New "slimline" Bulk Filler Demonstrator In The Pipeline…..

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

In reaction on several requests for a "smaller" version of the Bulk filler, I've just finished the final prototype.

Suggestions and comments from fellow members of the French "stylo plume.org" board were a great help in obtaining the actual design, Merci mes Amis /Amies !

The slimline has the size of a Pelikan 400 and holds 2ml of ink.

The section is rather long - hence very ergonomic - since Conid wants to stick to the Bock screw-in nib units and the Bock 076 and 180 nib units cartridges are relatively long.

Note this pen is not available yet, and will only go in production at CONID in November/December

The slimline will only be made in this demonstrator version.

Attached two pictures showing the new "slimline"demonstrator at the side of a "standard" Bulk filler

As always your comments, critique and suggestions are very welcome!

Francis

I think it is mind-blowingly wonderful. M200/M400 are the golden size pens when posted. Can you provide an estimate of the price point at which Conid might offer these?

In case you wish to write to me, pls use ONLY email by clicking here. I do not check PMs. Thank you.

Good work, Francis, slender and elegant.

Pretty! But will the end of the piston be white in the final version of the pen? I think black would blend in better, appearance-wise.

What's the price range? The other ones were way over mine...

If anybody wants to buy a FPR triveni, a waterman's crusader with a modified barrel, or faber castell pitt brush pens I have one just for you!

Thanks you all for your comments !

I have yet no idea on the price, this is something which Conid will determine.

Since all new parts are to be machined from solid bar stock, I doubt if the price will be drastically lower compared to the standard version.

Could be the price becomes 10- maximum 20 % lower compared to the standard version.

As for the white piston, no problem installing a black one, but one will not see the engaged anchoring system as easy.

Alternatively steel, 14C gold and titanium nib units can be installed

It's good to see Conid continuing to expand their lineup, and appealling to a wider market. I prefer pens at the opposite end of the size spectrum and it was the Kingsize (specifically the Flander's Fields LE in the Imperio celluloid) which convinced me to order a bulkfiller.

Well done Francis

I really enjoy using my actual conid pen!

The white piston indeed is estthetically a jump out , but not disturbing to me!

It emphasizes the anchoring system in a visual way , wich makes a demo bulkfiller such world on its own.

Hello Francis,

Very nice piece of craftsmanship. Both barrel and cap with a metal top are state of the art.

I had the occasion to write this very pen at Francis '.

The pen is well balanced and is not so small as I first thought.

The front section is not outbalanced at all , but gives a very nice comfort in writing.

The Delrin polymer gives this very outstanding silky feeling!

The nib fit on the pen is also in proportion with the rest of the pen.

Yeah the filling itself has proven itself now I think after all the years in use in the other pens

My wife will surely want one, for sure

Perfect! I want one, if I can scrape by some money. The longer section would fit my hand very well and my small handwriting would benefit from a precise tip placement.

The light you see at the end of the tunnel is that of a fast approaching train.

Love what Francis and Conid does. I got nipped a bit by customs on my last one, but truly these pens are fantastic

Went to the Conid Day and tried some of these pens. I already tried them at Francis place. It seems like the Conid pen is the summum of all pens. I mean perfect clip, genius filling system, nice balance, perfectly to disassemble and reassemble. And according to my modest opinion one hell of a male pen ! I think it is one of the "must have" for every pen collector.

had the "honor" of picking up my new Conid Black Slimline at Werner's shop yesterday. This is my 2nd Conid, after the Bulkfiller Flattop Demonstrator, and I couldn't be more happy. It is another great design and the same great quality of material and details.

On top of that Werner gave me a tour of his workshop and give me a great introduction into his "hobby". Can't wait for the next design.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
