Which Pilot Nib Is This

Hi Guys, I need your help. I have a spare nib a Pilot 14k Broad which I love - however I lost the pen- i had bought this several years ago with two nibs - a fine and a broad. I don't know what the pen model is - a nondescript black pen with gold plated trim (like so many pilot pens). I would like to purchase a new pilot pen where i would use the barrel and cap and interchange this nib with whatever the nib that comes with the new pilot pen. Problem is, this Nib has no size no on it. Its 2cm long do help if you have a No 5, or No 3 nib. The nib section has a metal collar which screws into the barrel - it also can be unscrewed from the grip section (the black plastic part where your fingers hold the pen). Right Now I'm using a Sheaffer Connoisseur barrel and cap as a temporary nib holder.

or the Custom Heritage 912 which has a number 10 nib... yeah I know... if you want something larger Custom 743 and 845 with a number 15 nib... but they will all fit this tinny tiny nib not sure if the reverse can be said to be true

Although the 10 and 15 do interchange to a certain degree, I'm not certain that you can actually fit a 5 into either. The 10 and 15 are set a lot deeper in the grip section than the 5 is, and I believe the nib collar they use is different.

Hey guys tanks for the information - this really helps heaps. I can now order a pilot pen and hopefully ask the seller if they would be able to get a barrel and cap. This is a nice nib it has a bit of spring to it.

Hari it is heartening to here from someone like you as well - what does HTH mean?

thanks again.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
