A Parkette And An "i Don't Know"

Hi, I got these two pens for ten dollars each in an antique store. The green one looks great except for the metal. I know it's a Parkette because it says so right on the barrel (parkette made by parker USA 6. )and on the nib, but the clip says PATD (patented?). It writes nicely with the old ink newly wetted. The red and grey one has no writing on it except for the nib which says (warranted 14KT Canada)

 

Any thoughts as to dates or why the PATD an not parker on the clip? Or what the red one is?

I can't help you with the Canadian pen, but the clip on the Parkette is the original clip.

 

Parkette was Parker's economy line during the Great Depression and they did not put Parker on the clip. The basic Parkette sold for $1.25, whereas a standard sized Vacumatic sold for $7.50 at that time. Parker did this on purpose to distinguish the more expensive pens from the economy models.

 

However, they were not bad pens. They were still Parker products that were made from celluloid, had gold filled trim and used 14kt gold nibs.

 

The 6. is probably the date code for the 3rd quarter of 1936.
