I reviewed this ink from a sample almost a year ago over on my blog and just got around to ordering a bottle of it this week. Love the deep rich purple and it's definitely on the wet side.

As always a thorough and excellent review Amber! Thank you! :)

 

I have a sample of this and DeA Aubergine. They appear identical to me, but I didn't test them out much. They are definitely very close in color if not the same; a dark eggplant shade.

I wasn't personally wowed by this one; perhaps because it is so dark and I generally prefer lighter or brighter inks.

 

Maybe a good option for someone who wants a little color but still something dark and more professional?

Whatever you have inked up. Though broad and wet may be the best comparison.

I can use one of my Ahabs with a Goulet 1.5 stub - that is pretty wet and broad :)

Two years ago, FPNer Shawndo, purchased every blue ink sample Goulet's had to offer.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy.       I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off.
