I just get my purchase of used cross townsend. Unfortunately it does not come with converter. Does it take standard cross cartridge?

and you would need the green converter, without threading (push-fit)

Wow super fast reply. Thank you. I think i will enjoy the pen. I have tried the nib while cleaning it. So far seems good.

Let me try to stretch my luck further here, anyone know where to buy the converter cheaply in Sydney. It costs about $5 in the US, but all the shops i know here charge about $12. Online does not seem better (charge expensive postage)

Can't help you there.

From what I have heard, ANZAC is expensive for pens etc.

If you have to buy abroad, do yourself a favour, buy both types (the green and the yellow) just in case. Will save you extra posting, but OTOH it is an investment that will cost you money now...

Thank you. I think i will wait until there is a good deal for the converter. I got the pen for 20 something bucks. So getting converter for half the price does not sink in my mind. Outside look is a bit rusty but the nib is still in excellent condition. A bargain.

Hi, Just to say that it's ok to refill the standard cartridges over and again if you own a syringe. The short cartridges and the converters seem to hold the same amount of ink so you don't gain anything there.

The Cross converters are very well made, never had any problems whatever. Price in UK is £5.50 so approx A$10.

That's what i am planning to do for the moment. It seems pretty expensive too in UK. Only cheap in US? :( May be I will buy it at a later date anyway.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
