Anyone With An Extra Touchdown O-Ring?

Recommended Posts

I recently purchased a touchdown tuckaway in which I have restored. I now need the O-ring, I found a 12 pack on richard binder's website, but shipping is $8. Is there anyone out there that is willing to cut me a break and maybe send me one via letter? I can send you some money via paypal or something to trade.

I have a "Touchdown Repair Kit" coming from FrountainPenSacs.com which has 4 sacs (2 fat, 2 tm) and 4 o-rings (2 small, 2 large) that I got for $13 shipped (bout $10 + ~ $2.90 ish shipping).

What size o-ring does the tuckaway take? I only need to repair my one Touchdown Statesman (which takes the small o-ring). So would leave me with the 2 large o-rings and 1 small one.

Or you can spend $4.89 + 1st class shipping (under $3) from FountainPenSacs to get 9 of the small or large ones... or I could just send you my spare small (or large depending on which Tuckaway takes).

I beleive it is the small one. I have found little information about the tuckaway in terms of sizing of o rings, so i assuemd it is the small based on the fact that the PFM/FAT TD are much larger in scale compared to the tuckaway.

It's the Large one.

Small rings fit Snorkels and most Touchdown including Imperials.

Large rings fit PFM, 1949 Touchdowns (fat first year model) and Touchdown Tuckaways

I can definitely spare you a large one (how are you with the sac? they take the 17.5 ones) .

My tucky took a large one also. I have 9 left from my pack, and 4 sacs.

Be happy to send a set to you, if Karl doesn't have a spare. :)

I'll have two spares, but I haven't even received my order from FPS yet (probably tomorrow/thurs).

I don't have any 'fat' touchdowns, PFM or Tuckaway in my collection.

So if you wanted to drop one in an envelope for him, go for it since you already got some on hand.

Pm sent to komitadjie. Kbeezie, thank you for the offer. The way people on this forum help out is really something! Let me know if there's anything I can do in return.

Two pen lines take the fat 0-ring (stay with me before you argue), and everything else takes the small 0-ring.

The ones that take thelarge 0-ring are the early (fat) Touchdown fillers and the PFM. They also use a #17 or 17-1/2 sac. The early TD pens have the same size section as the plunger fillers, and were made in both the standard length and short pens i.e Tuckkaways, so I lump them together. Sheaffer didn't make the TM TD in a Tucky size pen

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
