This week I carried 2 149s, a B and a BB stub. I so enjoyed interchanging depending on the task and the paper....does anyone else do the same on a regular basis?

I always have one of my 149s with me and a 146 attached to my journal/diary. But any LEs with low serials never leave the house :)

Based on threads over the past years, I would say many FPNers do! About a year ago, I actually dropped down to only 3 inked FPs because I was going overseas for a few weeks, taking the 3 with me and flushing the others in the rotation at the time.

I usually just carry my 146.

However, there are some days I will carry my 149 with B nib and my 234 1/2 with M nib together.

I always carry at least three MBs with me to work. Sometimes this is as many as 7 depending on what I am going to use the pens for. My three pen MB Siena case usually holds one fp, and rb and a bp or mp. I usually take my 147 with its case, and I have a leather zip case from the 60s that holds another 3 pens-though sometime I only carry one or two pens in it. Come to think of it maybe I should be looking for a six pen case. Anyone ever tried the penvelope by Franklin-Christoph?

When I am in the office, I typically have two MB's with me; one of which is a 149 B for signatures.

I have 5 MB fountain pens but I don't carry them. I carry my MB 0.7mm pencil and a MB rollerball or ballpoint to work.

I only have two so that is my answer. A 146 platinum and a jules verne. Jules verne has oxblood in it and 146 has sailor kobe rokko.

I keep a bottle of ink in my desk drawer, I therefore do not have a requirement to carry multiple fountain pens. I do though take a set of three Starwalkers to work each day as there are often times when a pencil or ballpoint are required.

I used to carry a 149 and 146, but now it's a 1980s 146 fine/medium nib and a 344 fine nib,with different colour inks.

Not necessarily daily as in every day, but when the rotation aligns, I have sometimes carried MB 14 with O3B nib and MB WE Dosto with M nib.

a 149, a ballpoint for me,

'The Yo-Yo maneuver is very difficult to explain. It was first perfected by the well-known Chinese fighter pilot Yo-Yo Noritake. He also found it difficult to explain, being quite devoid of English.

So we left it at that. He showed us the maneuver after a sort. B*****d stole my kill.'

I carry a 32, a 22, and a 149 depending on my mood. I also always have an Anniversary LeGrand on me (in case I want to use a pen but not let others feel the need to ask to use an FP). When signing contracts I use a J.Swift FB with a OBB... because of my love of J.Swift!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
