Mr. Ford, the owner of MrPen, has revamped his website! It looks super! I guess this is in preparation for the new Italix pens that are to be released soon.

Franklin-Christoph, Italix, and Pilot pens are the best!
Iroshizuku, Diamine, and Waterman inks are my favorites!

Apica, Rhodia, and Clairefontaine make great paper!

Thanks for the heads up. I hadn't checked out MrPen's website for a while. A big improvement. It was a bit cramped looking before.

Well done, Mr. Ford.

Really nice of you to notice and yes it is in preparation for the new lines. However the design does not work properly, full of bugs and the index scrollers do not work. We will be going for the side index again, but with a wider format. Also our new software should make the site more visible to a wider range of devices and not just laptops and pcs. Also our policy is to further concentrate on 'Italix' lines and less on the other makers. When we first started this adventure into having our own pens, we were just looking to bridge the gap created by the large maker's action of discontinuing product prematurely. What in fact we had started was a micro phenomenon.. Thanks in large part to Lorna who wrote such an in depth review, followed by Stephen Brown with his splendid YouTube videos. Up until then the pens were selling well, but now days they sell in their hundreds. Now everyone is reviewing them in more languages than I care to mention.

I'm very happy that your Italix lines are selling well. People just needed to become aware of them because they are of such high quality. Also, your customer service is outstanding. I'm sure that, in your quest for excellence, your website will soon be working to perfection. I currently have four Italix pens, with plans to acquire more. I'm very happy to support your company, because the quality just can't be matched, and I look forward to the new pens coming out at the end of July.

As a standard rule, an italic will write with crisper line than a stub. And I wholeheartedly recommend the PE!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
