This is a true beauty. If I'm not wrong, this is one of those pens that 'changes it's colour with time' (aka, the top part wears off and shows the colour underneath), but I could be wrong.

May I ask how much it costs? I really want something like this for my collection <3

Best start saving :) $550 from nibs.com

One of the few pens that are absolutely worth the price though.

wow! - and your pics are stunning. The very best pics I've seen of a Nakaya. Seeing the urushi in these pics makes me want one even more.

I've heard its supposed to change colour with time too but I've no idea how long that takes. I suspect it will take years.

It cost me £365 (621USD) from http://www.iguanasell.co.uk/collections/nakaya-pens . They're located in Spain and appear to be the only place that has them Europe. After VAT and import duties it works out a little bit cheaper for me that getting it from Nakaya themselves or Nibs.com

It's a beauty - one of my favorite finishes.

There's a store in Warsaw that carries Nakaya: buylux.pl. I haven't bought anything from them, but I saw them at the Poland Pen Show in April.

That's one fine looking pen--and I'm sure you're going to be addicted to it once you start using it. I love my Nakayas!

Why do I keep punishing myself?? Another beautiful Nakaya and gorgeous pictures. I have almost saved enough to purchase my first (and possibly last) Nakaya. I have decided on the color Heki-tamenuri or Shiro-tamenuri,if available on the style I select. But I am still trying to determine if the Neo-Standard or the Naka-ai would best fit my small hand 6 1/4 inches from base to tip of index finder. I read that the Neo-Standard is a bit top heavy, but I think it shows off the Urushi better.

Has anyone seen the Shiro-tamenuri finish? What about the weight distribution and size?

Help, Help, HELP!

Cracking photos and pen! Enjoy :) They are addictive, I want my second already and i've only just had my first. lol.

Edit: Well done for finding a European seller too! The price to us here in the UK is well worth it. That is definitely cheaper than anywhere else.

Don't forget, from USA you have to pay 20% VAT, import duty at something like 3.3% of price then the Parcelforce charges of like £8 or £13.

Nice find indeed.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
