I'll be there at a table with Vanness! So excited! I'm going to be bringing as many extra pens as I can make between now and then. We have an idea for a USA pen that should be pretty cool ( we hope ).

Are you going?
What are you going to look for?

We will be bringing NOS Bexley and Sheaffers along with current pens and of course Akkerman - lots of ink-

If anyone could have a customized nib on US made Preludes what would you choose?

Shawn is customizing a few pens before we go!!

We will be there all three days doing repairs. We've asked (and expect to get) the tables straight back on the back wall opposite the doors going into the main ball room - right at the end of the center isle. Hard to miss the traffic light.

I'll be there Saturday and Sunday.

I'm going with a definite shopping list this year and going to try and stick to it. No, really....

Besides getting in on the Akkerman ink group buy (woohoo!), there are some other inks for which I want (er, need ) full bottles. Not *really* shopping for pens this year, but I will have half an eye out for some that are on the mental wish list -- if they pop up on the radar.

Mainly I have some pens that need repairs of one sort or another, so I'll be looking for parts in a couple of cases, and sacs in a couple of others; and the repairs are for pens that are beyond my skill level such as checking out the cap on the Shadow Wave I got on the Bay of Evil a few months ago (to see if it really *does* have a crack) and also seeing if I can get a replacement jewel for it. And then there's the Arnold pen/pencil that I want some advice on fixing, and the Arnold mini pen, which needs a sac but I have no clue as to what size.

Last year I was a bit overwhelmed (it was my first pen show ever, and I had no clue what to expect). And I did spend a LOT of time at the ink tables; I suspect that I will not have to do nearly so much of that this year, although I did hear rumors of Akkerman inks -- after all I could only afford to get three bottles in the group buy....

I can't wait! This will be my first DC show and I'm really looking forward to a big show. There aren't many shows in my part of the country so I don't get to attend nearly as many as I would like. The show nearest to home is San Francisco and that's 800 miles. Travelling 2750 miles to DC I will definitely stay for all four days, arriving the day before and leaving the day after so I don't miss any of the show.

There are many friends I want to see again and many internet friends I want to meet for the first time. I have a few pens that need repair, and a few to find new homes for. I think it will be a busy four days.

I'm trying to convince 2 of my friends to go with me for Saturday. Make the trip from NY down to DC for like a mini road trip. Would love to pick up some spare pen parts and get a pen or 2 ground.

Anyone know a repair shop that will be there that could work on my TWSBI 700 vac nib? Would really like to have nib made into a real ex fine, xxf, line. I have an ex fine in there now but it is still too wet and thick for my liking. Thanks for help.

I'm going! I'm really looking forward to my Akkerman Ink (part of the group buy), and now that I've been a couple of times, it doesn't overwhelm me.

Did someone mention Preludes??? I collect them; have about 25 :P.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
