Four Pilot 78Gs, three Pilot Vanishing Points and two extra nib units, and four Platinum Preppies.

Cleaning aside, the amber Custom 823 is one of my favorite pens. I have one in F. If I ever pick up a duplicate pen, it'll be the clear demonstrator 823 in B.

The Danitrio Takumi seems to be my particular weakness, I now own five. It's such an ideal size and they make them in so many nice finishes I just can't help myself.

I bought two very similar pens. One Pilot Heritage 92 (medium nib) and one Pilot Heritage 91 (soft-fine medium nib). The last one is a cartridge/converter version of the first.

Those are my favorite pens, and the more expensive that I can go.

Yeah, those are stickers. My Pilot Custom 74 is unique. I thought it looked a little plain with just a wide silver band back there.

Just picked up a clear C823(f) on eBay for $261 plus shipping. The seller is pisuke2005 and sent some nice tea with my pen.

I love the tea he sends with the pens!

Actually, none.

Does that mean you haven't got a single Japanese pen, or that you only have one of any particular model?

I've only just discovered Japanese pens this year. I'm a man of limited means (at the moment) so I only have two Pilot Preras, one white, one brown. If I had more money I'm pretty sure it would be a much different story. I will content myself with drooling from afar.

I have 4 VPs so far and I daresay I'll get more in the future :) Also, my Nakayas are multiplying!

For daily use, I find Nakaya's Neo Standard model very pleasant. I have three of them, from left to right: Kuro Tamenuri (stiff M nib), Bamboo in tame sukashi (stiff M nib) and Aka Tamenuri (music nib). The latter two are inked. Ruud

rhk, superb collection there! I love the Bamboo Woods and the way the clip just 'disappears' into the pen as well.

How wide do you find the M nibs as compared to another pen?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
