I answered in the affirmative earlier today for Black Amber since you already had a envelope done up with my name on it.

Slots are filled UNLESS begging is involved. I would just say that slots are filled, but I seem to respond well to begging and puppy dog eyes. It's very sad.

Since you requested begging, my first ever attempt at inky art:

Okay, one more person - that would be 30 samples.

After that the ink room is closed.

Yes, I'm a softy. Any additions beyond the 30 require bribery.

I like this ink, though I fear the scanner will make a liar out of me. This ink seems more black under less powerful lighting and on a dark brown table.

The picture below is the one described referencing the lubrication qualities of the ink mentioned above, you can also see the show-through on the cheap copy paper. The bubbles were present during my entire usage of the pen. I'm not sure if they mean anything at all, but I welcome those wiser than me to educate me at their whim.

Also, the water drop test accidentally had an interloper invade while it was drying, namely my right hand. This is the cause of the smudges on the left side. I was attempting to write the lower section at the time.

I'm sorry if it's hard to tell, but I was swapping between three different pens while writing the Rhodia review. I used the Rhodia for the dry smear test. I swiped my finger across the 16% here.

This next one is actually where I started testing the ink. I was watching House MD with my wife when I started and when I don't know what to write, I write what I hear. Sorry. The images are my best attempt at making the review look festive. Please don't pick on me too much. I own three dogs, and realize this is not an accurate representation. Also the horse who lent its tail for this picture was paid handsomely for the loan. Enjoy.

16% looks like a very good concentration/dilution of these inks! Can't wait until I get mine. Soon, soon...

That looks like a very black ink.

Ok, so I made up a batch at 16%, simply because I didn't have a large enough spare bottle to make it at 8%.

It was difficult to get it all out of the plastic baggie, so a little (very little) ended up decorating the kitchen. I am now banned from the kitchen (except for tea-making duties).

I then made a small sub-sample of that at 8% and filled the only spare pen I could find, one of Kevin's Beifa A+ pens.

It works very nicely, giving me a black that even the queen of black, black, blackety-blacks, ethernautrix, would approve of, except she would probably run it at 16%, just to make sure.

More testing tomorrow.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
