I found these:

The Rhodia one looks really good; has weeks on one side and a page for extra notes on the opposite. It's got a bunch of charts and maps too if that is important to you. The Banditapple is a fraction of the cost of the Rhodia and seems to meet your basic needs, too. Just a basic weekly notebook and a blank facing page. Weird dimensions and only a half-year, though.

I used to like the Rhodia Academic Planner, but those were discontinued. Now, I use the Midori planner (available from Goulet Pens) and I set it up in the way that's most useful to me.

I just picked up a Quo Vadis "Textagenda" from Barnes and Noble today and I'm quite excited for Aug 1 to start using it! I haven't tested the paper yet but it feels very similar to Tomoe River and Quo Vadis is known for being FP friendly so I doubt I will be disappointed. :-)

+1

Yes people look at my Midori (and me) stragely when they realize I have ruled it all myself, but it's the best diary that I have ever used.

The previous 2 years before the Midori I used the B5-ish sized soft back Moleskine academic diary and the paper was much better at taking ink than the majority of Moleskines that I have used - not sure if I was lucky or if this range was better.

Well you might want to check Leuchtturm

Leuchtturm is a Hamburg (Germany) based manufacturer of Notebooks and diaries.....

I have an Leuchturm a4 Diary...

Well made thick quality paper and it comes with handy stuff like a sheet with lines and squares to lay under your paper for guiding lines....

Paper quality is much better than Moleskine's

I have a Lett's of London one, and it's fine, but the paper is definitely not suuuuper FP-friendly. Wouldn't recommend it over the suggestions above. I'm really bummed many brands have stopped producing academic year planners! Sure, a lot of students have gone all digital, but NOT ALL OF US!! and other people use the academic year! Blah. I'm not grumpy at all...

Rhodia and Quo Vadis are excellent choices. On a whim, I tried this At-A-Glance one http://www.amazon.com/AT-A-GLANCE-2014-2015-Academic-Wirebound-628P-905A/dp/B00J0B1TN2 (it was so pretty!) but alas, not even remotely close to being FP friendly - I didn't see much feathering, but it did bleed right through :(

Good luck in your quest! ;)

Awww. How much do they normally cost for a day planner? I was annoyed I spent 30$ on this At A Glance one, when I should have known better and just bought a Quo Vadis one. Ah well, lesson learned I guess. I may just have to hunker down and use *gasp* a PENCIL with it. *shudders*

I bought the weekly A5 one for £16. I got it orange which looked nice however I've got 18 months of either biro usage or pencil to get through know :( .

I use and have been using for years the small moleskin day to a page diary. I put everything i need to remember in there and plan my courses. Use mostly fountain pens in it. Why it works for me? It is small and compact enough to carry around so I use it,

Poundland have some decent ones in for super cheap, and the paper is better than moleskine too.

Moleskin was a dismal featherbleeding mess.

Rhodia academic was the best of all possibles for me.. sad it's gone.

Staples fussy girly versions are so much less useful.

Arc too bulky.

So using my phone calender for brief notes, not satisfactory pen fun at all.

I'd say the Black n Red is the best bang for the buck. I use them for my class notes.

My favorite FP Diary's are MB's Medium notebooks ... I've been using them for years, and the paper is made just for FP's. Of course it's a bit expensive, but I love them.

I also like the rare size 6 1/2" by 81/2"...

I spent my whole primary and secondary school writing assigments with a 8 tab notebook from Clairefontaine.

Each tab has a different color and they can be labelled anyway one's want.

There are notebook with 12 and 4 tabs.

The 4 or 8 tabs notebook, I don't recall which, can be found at the Container Store, if you have one nearby.

On the e-catalogue below, they are on page 26

http://clairefontaine-rhodia-2014.e-catalogues.info/

Because it is Clairefontaine, the paper is heavenly for fountain pens, even school pens.

Moleskine are a clever marketing ploy for what is run of the mill, black notebooks.

Since the brand was created way after Hemingway died, he never used them.

The closest one could get to those original black notebooks, would be to ask a bookbinder to make some.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
