Picked up mine from another US retailer in May. Handsome pen. Haven't even inked it yet. Enjoying the pristine quality of it while I can.

I got one last month. It's a fantastic writer! No disappointment there.

Franklin-Christoph, Italix, and Pilot pens are the best!
Iroshizuku, Diamine, and Waterman inks are my favorites!

Apica, Rhodia, and Clairefontaine make great paper!

Mine arrived on Thursday and it is amazing. The nib (I bought the medium) is perfect - smooth, wet and responsive, exactly what I've come to expect from Pilot, only better. The pen itself is beautiful - elegant and classy. I bought the burgundy one. I never post my pens but need to with this one and I'm glad it's easy, stable and balanced. *sighs loudly

I hate to be a downer, but I really hated the 2 elites I had.

First was a 14L EF I got on eBay for $75, and it wrote a very washed out line, not sure why.

Second, PO nib 18k from eBay. Wrote nicely but... Not fine like a PO nib. Grrrr!!

Maybe it's because I'm left handed and the hooded nib is really not left hand friendly. That's probably why.

I have a couple of older Elites, as well as the new ones. The quality varies, depending on where it was made. Those made in Japan are good, if a bit stiffer than the latest model. The ones made in Korea seem to be a lot more variable in quality.

The two Elite 95Ss that I own (both F nibs) are excellent, and have a similar feel to my Custom 74 SF, which I regard as the best nib I've used (and I include many far more expensive pens in that statement).

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
