I am surprised the Apricot is doing so well. I see you were able to load the scan. I was uploading it for you.

That Tanom purple will actually fade quickly now, it does not hold up.

Well Namiki Blue already ain't doing very well. I guess that apart the water resistance there aren't many other qualities to recommend it. The Kobe inks are doing very well. Interesting that Ultramarine is not on par with them. I was pleasantly surprised by R&K, they are very decent for this hue range. Apricot was the biggest surprise.

After I had tested Apricot, I was expecting that sort of resilience from all the sailor inks. Alas, Apricot is different.

Lol me too. Looks like some kids will soon receive a bottle of a light, slightly tealish blue to play with. I'm keeping it just until I can do a side by side fade test with the Hero inks that Cyber6 discovered in Chinatown.

I'm just catching up on this thread. Thanks for doing this, and thanks for explaining the rationale behind using the north-facing window. The amount of fading from some of these inks -- even when in not in "direct" light -- was an eye-opener.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off.
