Summer Slim Down With All-Ett-Midori

Recommended Posts

I like to keep a small notebook for personal things always with me. I’ve been using a Leuchtturm1917 Pocket Notebook and keeping it in my bag.Together with my old wallet it took about 3.5 cm so i needed to slim down for the summer vacation.

I bought a Midori’s Passport sized travelers notebook from the nice Sfaar Store while visiting Talinn. I did not want to get the Midori leather covers as they do seem a bit bulky for what i had in my mind. Also, the more items you carry the more you have things to remember.

Fortunately there are a lot of wallets that fit a passport. After some digging i found All-Ett wallets that are amazingly thin. The one i ordered was the passport sized “EcoThin” wallet. It really is amazingly thin even when fitted with ten cards, bills and a Midori. 1.3 cm to be exact. It is almost too thin.

I recommend the wallet wholeheartedly to anyone who wants to get “as thin as possible” wallet. At the same time i must caution that the material used in the wallet could feel a bit flimsy to someone who is used to the more sturdy leather wallets. Of the materials available “EcoThin” material seemed nicer than the spinnaker cloth that is used in “Original” or “Leather” based on Youtube videos.

The passport pocket seam created a bit uneven writing surface so i cut a sheet of thin plastic from elasticated folder and glued it on the last page with Spray Mount.

Overall i'm very happy. Off course It is easier to write on a hard covered notebook when you can not put the notebook on a even surface for support. For me the All-Ett-Midori is still more than acceptable for taking quick notes while standing. I was prepared for the expense of premium leather wallet and All-Ett EcoThin wallets are very reasonably priced. Maybe i should spend the money i saved on a nice pocket pen..

Very nice solution. It still fits a passport too as you still have room!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
