Seems like a lot of money. Starting the bidding above retail.

ONE pick taken a mile away, no descriptions at all of the pens, 600(?) Euro start , from an absolute 1st time Ebayer and they only take a personal check??

Gee, I can't possible imagine what's suspicious about that. [1]

Right? I'm thinking it's obviously hot merchandise.

What is 600,00 eros as to the dollar these days?

I'll have to look it up.

Check only probably means that Paypal has barred this person from their services for nefarious reasons. And always beware a first time seller who wants lots of money for a picture of fountain pens. Might be wise to avoid this seller for now.

Definitely looks a bit off. I'd think thrice before even considering this, and even then I'd probably look for a cheaper alternative instead. Hmmm :/

Haha, much too good to be true, yeah? :P

Then again, I'm a bit of a paranoid person sometimes. *shrug* I'm probably going to pass so may as well put it out of mind.

Oh, I wasn't even considering it. Still, though, if all of the pens pictured are sent to the wInning bidder, supposing there is a winning bidder, it would be a pretty good deal!

True. Maybe you should bid. ;)

Oh, I think it's called cautious. I wouldn't say paranoid. Still, I'm going to watch this one out of curiosity.

Indeed, it'd be a huge blow if it turns out to be a genuine auction. Not that I've that much pen/ink money on hand at the moment, but how easy is it to pass up a collection like that?!

If you google image search the photo used the only hit is a site advertising various sales and auctions in France.

The current auction is listed as well as an auction that ended in June by the same seller, presumably. I also noticed the starting bid amount has been reduced by 50 euros.

Oh, I seriously doubt it's genuine. Also, if you had those pens to sell, wouldn't it make more sense to sell them individually?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
