14:00 Performances
Wang Dongling beginnt um 14:00 Uhr, Dauer ca. 20 Minuten; dann kommt Soraya Syed mit arabischer Kalligraphie und dann Peter Unbehauen. Im Anschluß an die drei Einzelperformances werden alle Künstler gebeten, das Wort "Buch" in ihrer Sprache, mit ihren Materialien, in ihrer Schrift zu schreiben.

Der Sonderforschungsbereich 950 „Manuskriptkulturen in Asien, Afrika und Europa“ lädt in
Zusammenarbeit mit den Deichtorhallen Hamburg am Freitag, dem 16. Januar 2015 zur
ersten gemeinsamen Performance der Schriftkünstler Wang Dongling (Hangzhou, China),
Soraya Syed (London, Großbritannien) und Peter Unbehauen (Hamburg) ein. Im Anschluss
an die Performances folgt eine Podiumsdiskussion über das Thema „Kalligraphie global“.

Erstmalig werden die international bekannten Schriftkünstler Wang Dongling (Hangzhou, China),
Soraya Syed (London, Großbritannien), und Peter Unbehauen (Hamburg), gemeinsam die drei
großen Schriftkulturen in Performances anschaulich machen. Im Anschluss an die Performances
folgt eine Podiumsdiskussion über das Thema „Kalligraphie global“ mit Jean-Marie Simonet
(Musées Royaux d’Art et d’Histoire, Brüssel), Lothar Ledderose (Universität Heidelberg), Soraya
Syed (Schriftkünstlerin, London) und Uta Lauer (Universität Hamburg); Moderation: Andreas
Schmid (Künstler, Berlin).

Die Diskussion wird in englischer Sprache stattfinden, der Eintritt ist frei.

Wang Dongling comienza a las 14:00 horas, tarda unos 20 minutos; entonces Soraya Syed viene con caligrafía árabe y luego Peter Unbehauen. Después de las tres actuaciones individuales se pide a todos los artistas, la palabra "libro" para escribir en su propia lengua, sus materiales en su escritura.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy.
