Replacement Nib For Beverly?

ch2112

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I have a purple Beverly bought for me for Christmas a few years back that I LOVE, but I would like to find a fine nib for it. Does anyone know if Cross sells replacements, or if any of their current replacements will fit? Sorry if this is a silly question, I am new to fountain pens, this is the only one I own. :D

Thanks!

I don't know the Beverly.

I looked on the Cross USA website at the replacement nibs, but no Beverly.

But you could try and call or mail them Their service has always been very good. Perhaps they still have one around.

Hi, There is a range of pens by Cross which don't appear on the website, they are sold in department stores and stationers shops in the UK.

I have the Bailey, and I have tried the nib from the 'Century 2' which is a good fit, and to me they seem identical in shape.

The only real difference seems to be the engraved pattern on the nib's top surface, that varies from model to model.

Of those I have seen,'Aventura', 'Bailey', 'Dubai' and 'Beverley', these do seem to share the same design nib, and all I've seen are 'medium'.

So I would think it's fair to say a Century 2 nib in 'fine' may well fit the 'Beverley', but I believe you have to buy the whole section complete,

(nib, feed and grip section) so it's going to be an expensive nib swap. You may well find a Century 2 with fine nib for a reasonable price second hand though.

Please note, I tried this swap because I own a Century 2 and Bailey, but there maybe some differences in the Beverley that I wouldn't know about.

There is another option, which would be to get your 'medium' nib modified to 'fine' by one of the nib repairers, could be much cheaper to have done.

I think Pendemoniums nib grinds, which would include going down to a Fine from a M nib, are $29, insured postage back included.

I don't know how much Beverly's are new but that is the least expensive grind I am aware of.

A picture would most likely help.
The ones that are currently available tend to be pretty obvious by their appearance.

No guarantee as Cross is OEMing these things from only they know where, some of these off the regular catalog may be unique.

Good luck.

YMMV

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
