Cs Churchill Colors

Seeing yesterday the Conway-Stewart site for the Churchill fountain pen I have noticed that there is only four colours (Bracket Brown, Classic Black, Honey Noire and Bracket Green) available of the seven it used to have (Bracken, Bracket Brown, Classic Black, Cherry Red, Honey Noire, Rioja and Walnut) although the images of the web page are the old ones with the seven colors. Does anyone know if this reduction in the number of colors is temporary or, on the contrary, this are the new colors for this year? Thank you.

Conway Stewart reduced its ranges of products dramatically (and sensibly, if you ask me) last month. Some models (eg Belliver and Wellington) have been discontinued whilst other models that are continuing are now available in fewer colours. Best to contact a Conway Stewart retailer for more details.

Shame to hear they discontinued the Wellington. That one was on my to-buy list. Not sure i like this development. Not very interesting colours for the Churchill left (OK i have a classic black one). To be honest, the Churchill is the only pen that they still make that i really like. I'm not a big fan of the newer models.

There may stilll be some pens available from the discontinued series but these will be while stocks last and finish options are limited.

I generally think it's a good thing to have a smaller range but it's a shame that the Welly has gone as it was a popular model. Better news is that the 100 has come back (there is a LE version still available and I understand more colours will follow soon).

Pity as the Churchill is the size/shape I prefer, but the current range of color is dull to say the least.

Curious that Conway Stewart would keep this info so "secret". Usually a company would seize the opportunity to advertise that some models are being discontinued so as to make the remaining ones available for sale before they are no longer made.

Well..............I like the apparent lack of hysterics in their sale tactics.

Much better than the "we are god and we bring you a giant (expensive) picnic" of certain companies.

I wil check if i can find a nice Wellington somewhere. As for the CS100, i'm glad that model makes a comeback although i'm happy with the Classic Red CS100 i bought from you a few years back. I hope they get better colour options than the 58.

Thank you very much for the information. It's a pity to know that about the Wellington, after the Churchill this is the fountain pen from Conway-Stuart that I like more.

Yes, in my case I would love to see a Churchill made from this wonderful Pistachio resin.

I thank you all for your contributions.

Juan

Juan, if you get a hold of Mary on here I'm sure there will be a way where they can make a Churchill out of the color you want.

I've a gorgeous bespoke Churchill from amethyst, but I needed that last huge group buy to get the price affordable. Hope they use up more bits of rod stock like that in future. I'd get a couple more.

Alas, artificial light and phone cameras can't catch the subtle glory. Second to right.

And they're all IB nibs. I'm hooked on CS IB nibs. Altho' I had a Jarvis I bought used with an IF that was so incredible it was with the greatest of regrets I sold it on to fund something else. And I don't even like F nibs!

Most of my CS pens are IB but I have one IF and it is wonderful and I too do not like F or even M nibs.

All-in-all if I could only have one nib it would have to be a CS Italic Bold. (Closely followed by a mb obb).

It may not be everyone's favorite but my Churchill is in brown whirl. It is a grey/green with a rich brown whirl and my favorite for the Churchill line. I'll value it the more now that the color will only be available as bespoke.

When I tried to order a Wellington I was told that, although it's discontinued, the factory will make one for me. Try to contact either Mary directly, or an authorized dealer. You may still be able to get a new Wellington.

It might take quite some time, though. Mine is already three weeks past the promised deadline, and I have no idea when I'll receive it. But anyway, if it's really as wonderful as everybody says it is, then I guess it's worth waiting for. :)

Some retailers have told me only black, brown (didn't say which brown) and green are available - but see below.

Assuming the change is permanent, most shops have yet to properly update their websites, with photos or listings of all colours still shown.

I've just done this with a honey noire Churchill. After placing an order online, the vendor told me he had run out but contacted CS who said they'd make one, and it would take about 3 weeks. Let's see. If they can still make any of the former regular colours as special orders with no surcharge, I'm happy.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
