Faber Castell Ondoro Nib Is Stuck

Recommended Posts

I got a new Ondoro but the feed is misaligned and it causes the pen to be very dry and almost not write. I tried taking the feed and nib out to align them but I can't take them out. On sbrebrown's video, he just screws it but mine doesn't even move. Any help?

Why don't you as for a refund

I second this. if it's brand new, ask for a refund or exchange. also from the look of their nibs they seem to be "set" in a collar, if it'smmisaligned with a feed, that's going to be more work than I'dbe willing to put into a brand new pen.

It was a gift so I'd rather fix it myself if possible.

if it is new and a gift, contact Faber Castell regarding warranty repair or replacement.

by the way, on the video, was it an ondoro or was it the basic+loom shootout video?

I think I fixed it. I pushed the feed a bit and it's way better.

It was Ondoro disassembly video.

Interesting, I wonder if you're able to unscrew it now that you pushed it in straight (though investigate the possibility of warranty before planing on doing anything that's possibly "permanent")

I can't unscrew it. It's not completely in place, just closer. But I don't feel any problems with the flow.

Afaik the Ondoro nib is part of a screw-in assembly, but can in fact be pulled out all by itself; a friend of mine replaced hers with a TWSBI nib and it's working fine.

Check out my blog and my pens

As mentioned above the nib/feed/collar assembly does unscrew but some can be a right b****r to remove and you risk breaking something if you proceed. Pulling the nib and feed out is the only way in the situation when it won't unscrew but be careful not to deform the feed. As in all repair situations though "don't fix it if it ain't broke" as alignment issues can usually be corrected without recourse to disassembly.

Yes, the collars are compatible (early TWSBI Diamonds actually used the same part). You can therefore pimp your Basic, Loom, Ambition, eMotion or Ondoro with a TWSBI CI nib if you can get the collar unscrewed easily.

I've tried pulling it too. Doesn't seem to work for me. Anyways, I'm kinda happy with the pen as it is right now.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
