Does anybody have any experience with this ink? I got my first pen today. Watched a video on this ink. I have some noodlers black. Was just wondering if anybody else has used it. Looks like a nice blue black. I'm a complete noob so pardon the random question.

I'm tempted by this ink (like I really need another bottle) but haven't picked it up yet. If you look under the index of reviews, there are several well done reviews.

I concur, check with the reviews here on FPN.

I have 54th Mass and like it.Behaves great in all my pens. It has two qualities that assures it's place in my ink rotation, water resistance and low feathering. Shading is a side benefit.

I love this ink but it's total and utter refusal to budge with water when dry makes it live in only one of my pens.

It's a greeny blue black, I enjoy using it and have found it to behave really well especially in wet pens.

It's worth the price of the bottle simply for the artwork on the label :happyberet:

I'm so glad you are using those cards!

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Don't know where to start?  Look at the Inky Topics O'day.  Then, see inks sorted by color: Blue Purple Brown Red Green Dark Green Orange Black Pinks Yellows Blue-Blacks Grey/Gray UVInks Turquoise/Teal MURKY

The ink seems dry to me, but admittedly I have not used it much. I do like the color, although it is not my favorite blue. It seems well-behaved otherwise.

I LOVE it!!! Totally worth getting a whole bottle.

I have a dedicated pen (Noodler's Nib Creaper) for this ink. It is perfect to address envelopes. It actually behaves really well when diluted (ink:H20 = approx. 2:1 to 3:1.) I just take a bit the ink into a vial, mix it with water, and fill my pens from it. So- a bottle should last you a good while!

Good point. I actually found it better behaved when diluted. Less false starts and licking of the nib . . .

Ah, I was wondering why I was getting so many false starts after I inked up a pen with this. Still a great ink though.

I enjoy it, but of my three blue blacks it gets used the least. (the others being Pelikan 4001 Blue Black & Diamine Blue Black) Yet it is a good blue black. I don't see the green that others often talk about. You have to use it regularly in whatever pen you are using in order for it to not get grumpy though. I don't dilute. I often see more nib creep than with my other blue blacks.

Love the color and that it is bullet proof. I get frustrated with the false starts. I'll try the dilution and see how it behaves for me. Question: is it still bulletproof when diluted?

Yes, just obviously not as saturated, but that of course would depend on how much you dilute it.

Good luck.

I've been using a sample of this and have tried it in both a fine and 1.1 stub nib. It's a beautiful ink that is suitable for a professional setting, but still is interesting. The hint of green in it creates a lot of depth. I haven't had any issues with false starts or skipping.

I got this ink as a sample from Goulet Pens. I like it. The color is nice according to what I want and it isn't too much of a hassle.

My recommendation is to find a source that will let you buy ink samples. A couple people mentioned this to me and now I'm in the experimenting phase to determine which works best for me and what I do--write (some people do calligraphy or shading or other weird stuff, but we won't mention that). So far, my favorite has to be the Take Sumi Charcoal black. It's expensive, and I'll have to convince my wife it's worth it, or just sneakily buy it. This is a good way to find what works best for you. Also, you can buy a syringe set that makes refilling your cartridges or converters so easy, plus it helps get the ink out of the sample vials.

I'll have to try this, now that I got the syringe. I know someone else mentioned this, but now I'll definitely have to give this a try.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
