Pilot Vp/capless Metallic Colors

Who has one of the new Metallic colors?

I'm trying to decide on the Red or Green.

In the photos.. the red looks dull to me & the green looks vibrant. I'm just wondering how they look in person.

I'm seriously considering the orange. I think it would be a really fun pen for fall/Halloween time. I'm also curious to hear what others think of them once they get a chance to see them in real life.

I desperately want one of the new colors but they don't seem to be updating the Decimo offerings as much as the VP ones......sigh.... I love the orange one.

A penny for the old guy.

The orange & the purple both look fun!!

I found the FP geeks video of the green one.

Decisions 😜

I'm eyeing the purple one, but haven't decided if I'll get it yet. I'm still researching what I want. Ideally, I'd love to try a couple pens in person before making a commitment, but I doubt that will happen.

I watched the video that the Goulet's put out and the colors seem much more vibrant than the stock images...

The Goulet video was very helpful.

You sound like me...I research everything way too much!! I'm OCD when it comes to researching things. I would like to know how well the finish will hold up to daily abuse.

I have both the green and the orange.

The color is ... different. I like them both, being as I don't have any other green or orange pens (not my favorite colors). The colors to my eye appear to be a little darker - not bold - than the Goulet pictures, but not as bright and deep as the promotional photos provided by Pilot.

Both have that metallic sheen, very nice, but not a metallic feel. They are lacquer finished, and are similar to the graphite/matte black vp. The metallic look kind of reminds me of the Stargazer finish, but these definitely look metallic though they have the nice lacquer feel.

I don't regret them at all. Of course, I'm a vp person, too, but I would recommend them and I expect them to hold up well.

Think dark pumpkin orange. Yep, a very good choice for Halloween.

Yup...I still don't have a "nice" pen yet because I drag my feet researching everything.

I wondered about the finish, too. I think I'll just get a leather pouch or case to keep it in. Or maybe the box will suffice. It would be my everyday pen here at the office, so realistically it wouldn't get too much abuse.

Still trying to decide between the VP vs. a Lamy 200 vs. a Montblanc 90th anniversary...or maybe a Nakaya.

I just had a birthday and my family will get me any pen I want. I just don't know what strikes my fancy yet. Basically I should get to a pen show and do a test...

This is probably a silly question, but are the new ones made out of metal vs. plastic? Or are all Pilot V Capless metal? I have no clue, but I've been eyeing these pens. Can someone shed some light on this please.

Ball-point pens are only good for filling out forms on a plane.

All modern Pilot VP/Capless are are metal (well, with the exception of the maple anniversary edition), with lacquer finishes. The "stealth" vp is a matte black finish, and the new "metallic" colors are lacquer finishes with matte black accents (like the graphite/matte black that came out not too long ago, just in nice, shiny, metallic colors).

I have the gunmetal gray / matte black VP and it seems to hold up well to daily use.

I have a Valley Green metallic VP. I love it. It's my first VP so I have no idea about others but I love the looks of this one and how nice the EF nib is.

To be honest, I much prefer a classy, sleek look of the other vanishing points, rather than this metallic colour. Sorry not a taker on this one. :(

What I like the most about the new colors is the black nib.

The black nib would look great on the other Capless/Vanishing Points.

The Green & Orange are both a tie for me...I guess I'll have to flip for it

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
