Grenat - L'artisan Patellier

Hi, I'd like to present you another review that I've made for polish fountain pen forum - that's why the text is not written in english. I'd love to prepare new scans (in english this time) but I don't have time. Anyway, I hope at least some of you will find it useful even tough you won't - probably - understand the text as polish is not the most popular language to learn :)

We've (we = www.piorawieczneforum.pl users) made two group buys of L'Artisan Pastellier inks. I had a chance to try almost all inks produced by them. I like some of them, I dislike many of them. Grenat however is really nice.

Looks like the juice of a blackberry from some of the pictures. Great review. Thank you!

What a nice color! Do you know how it compares to something like Iroshihzuku Yama-budo? Also, have you detected any sheen?

Thank you for the review. I really like the L'Artisan packaging, alas, the inks have overall appeared to me to very washed out. This one looks like it has a nice saturation. Thank you for sharing.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Thanks for such a superb review. Excellent "documentaion" like software identification and comparisons. As asked above, which inks of these series do you not like?

Maybe we should contact them and ask for the option of doubling the dye concentration. The lack of saturation in reviews did hold me from buying.

How does the bottle actually work when it is near empty? Can the pen go in oblique and reach the deepest corner?

Everything is impermanent.

Doubling saturation = no shading....

Doubling saturation = no shading....

Less shading but more contrast and more sheen? this grenat looks saturated enough.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
