Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I'm thinking I need to play with a few more of the Private Reserve colours...

But I'm really tempted by Iroshizuku Kon-peki, and Asa-gao... Now, if I only didn't have so many blues already! Maybe a green? Or a brown? Heck, perhaps Apache Sunset... ARGH!

Stipula Ebony Black.

Always seeking to try another black, especially one that isn't supposed to be an "intense" black. Stipula black is one I haven't seen mentioned here on FPN. Plus, the 70 ml bottle could be had for a good price.

Thanks a load, you jerks. Cripes, I swear most of you work for Goulet!

Just ordered five more inks to play with. Couldn't resist getting some Apache Sunset for my Pendleton TWSBI that will be showing up before long, the medium BLS should shade quite nicely with that... And as long as I was at it, I couldn't live without some Liberty's Elysium... or some 54th Mass... and my fiance demanded green, so Gruene Cactus went into the cart... And the idea of a noodler's wet-erase pen ink was too good to pass up, so a big 'ol bottle of Bluerase joined em...

Dang it, I should take up smoking crack, it'd be cheaper! :D

My local stationary store has a bottle of Noodler's Baystate Blue. Like forbidden fruit, I'm tempted to try it. All that I've read about it should caution me away, and I can't imagine ever finishing the bottle. But what would my collection of ink be without it?

I was too careless when I used Baystate Blue. I didn't search any review about it before.

It turned out that it destroyed my Pilot Prera Demonstrator and my white desk.

Other inks I have are fairly easy to clean in the pen or on the surface of my desk. This one, it just stays there like forever. I've tried alcohol and detergent, neither of them worked.

My Pilot Prera Demonstrator becomes a solid light blue right now.

In addition, none of my Rhodia, Rhodia Premiun and Apica Premium could stop the feather from medium Pelikan M800 nib with Baystate Blue.

What's your experience of using it?

My experience with BSB has been overall fairly positive. It DOES have a perpensity for staining and feathering in wet nibs for me, I have to use good quality paper with it if I don't want it to feather. It also does stain. Heck, even my SINK needs a shot of Barkeeper's Friend when I'm done cleaning it to get the gunk off the ceramic.

HOWEVER, the colour is so awesome that I don't care. I'll keep a dedicated pen for it, just to have that incredible, eye-popping blue!

I think I want to join the crowd and try out Apache Sunset or Rouge Hematite next... But playing around with a Noodlers CMYK set is pretty tempting too. Decisions decisions.

PR is one of those brands I keep coming back to for rich colors with character. I'm using more of them in cartridge form, too, for my Kaweco Sports.

Speaking of, and on topic, I'm expecting two bottles today or tomorrow:

PR Chocolat (loved the cartridge version so much I ordered a bottle) and

The new formulation for Black Swan in Australian Roses.

I'm a sucker for rich, punchy purples.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
