Hello all,

I've found 2 Pelikan FPs both for 40$ (images are attached)

-Pelikan DRP (I think)

-Pelikan 140

Ofcourse there is a problem:

First one doesn't have clip and the second is mising the clip and top of the cap.

My question is they worth the price and where can I find the missing parts?

Thanks in advance!

Sorry to sound like a wet blanket, but they wouldn't be worth the price to me, unless I just wanted to experiment with restoring them or needed parts from them. The pen in the top photo looks like a 120, not a 140, and these can be had, whole and functioning, for less than $100. I don't know anything about the other you mention, and the bottom photo is too small to see anything.

All that said, if you really wanted to go for it, maybe to restore the pens yourself, you could check with Rick Propas about the missing parts; he may have them or be able to point you to them. I believe he is travelling until mid-June and may not be able to help you until then.

I would stay away from these as they need work and with replacement parts, will be just as expensive as if you bought an intact example if not more so. Great pens, just not in great condition.

Seriously, imagine the people who broke their own pens and who are looking for the same parts as you. I see parts go for ridiculous prices all the time. Mainly for Parker pens but I can imagine supply is even more limited for Pelikan parts. My advice is just get a new Pelikan M200 and a full flex 400 nib from Richard Binder. Is it more expensive yes, but I think you will be more happy in the long run.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
