Oh man, lucky you! How was it? Also, out of curiosity, how big a hole is it likely to leave in one's trousers pocket? :P

Haha, all these LEs make me wish I'd never gotten into fountain pens, especially those Montblanc ones (I mean, serously, Hitchcock and Lennon? Yeesh :eyeroll: )!

Cheers,

Kevin

I think I might be the only one ( or the only one brave enough :P) to say that I don't like the design of the nib. It looks like they put more effort into the pen case and ink than they put into the pen.

But then again, it is a 149, so it can't look not nice. Touché, Montblanc. Touché.

I agree.. Not feeling the 90 on the nib and the rose gold trim....It will probably grow on me...

You're not the only one. I also like the standard 149 nib design better. :)

When the first leaked pictures were out on the web, most of us seem to draw to that conclusion; that MB would need a bit more to make this one a bit more special than just another monotone special nib.

A simple change in the material, such as a mother of pearl star would significantly change the entire package drastically.

I did not walked out of the boutique with a pen this time.

Not a fan of the nib, but love the rose gold. If i do get one, it'll only be because of the rose gold.

I dropped by last week and was very hesitant, but in the end it is a 149 and the rose gold got me. I love mine and it is a beauty to look at.

For the bicyclists on the forum (if any aside from me), I'd point to the analogous Campagnolo Super Record 11 "80th anniversary" drivetrain. Same material, same performance; different logos and box at a premium price.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
