Can Anyone Please Post A Comparison Of Sailor F Vs Ef?

I know what EF looks like, ive tried it in a store, but they didnt have F.

I was considering the sapporo in EF, but I really like the look of the progear Sigma, but that only goes up to fine.

Are they near in width? or is the extra fine just obviusly finer?

thanks! if you have pictures comparing, thats great!

Oh dang i just checked that out.

Theres no discernible difference in those images. Hmm perhaps the difference is very small.

I just saw a chart saying EF was 0.23mm and F was 0,30 mm. Thats a thirty percent difference, i dont really see it in the goulet thing though.

hmm. thanks!

Hmm not only that, the sample for "progear fine" is even fatter than the sample for "1911 medium"

I wanst aware that sailor was this inconsistent?

If you mean the nib nook, I think every sample just uses Noodler's Black and Rhodia paper (ie: should be accurate between each other as long as it's the same ink and paper, but different nib).

Yes yes i mean the nib nook. I compared the 1911 EF and the F and there is no differnece i can see at all

but when i compare the progear F to the 1911 M, the progear F is even fatter. Dissapointing.

Im soo stuck between the progear slim and the progear sigma.

if the progear sigma came in extra Fine it would be ordered already. but it only goes up to fine, which is why im so worried, i want a nice fine line, and just dont know if theres much of a diffence between the F and EF in sailor. BUT im scared to order a FINE and get something fatter than a medium!!

The nib nook comparisons are done with the 14k nib. Perhaps there is a more pronounced difference with the 21k nib? I can see a clear difference in the nib nook examples, albeit very slight. I've ordered a 1911 w/ 21k extra fine nib, so I'll be able to give some writing samples in the coming days. Won't be able to compare it directly to a Sailor F, unfortunately, unless someone wants to lend me one for science :P

Yes the 14k for sure. That's the nib I'll be getting.

Thanks for the help! I'm probably not going to fish getting the fine.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
