Well, I have been on a spree the past few weeks, mostly japanese (with the occasional Romillo I have on order  :happyberet: ).

The main theme: wooden pens from the Big Three.

From the top:

Pilot Custom Ichii wood (Yew)

Sailor Chizusugi (japanese cedar - that smell!) with chrome trim

Platinum Yakusugi (cedar again)

Pilot Custom kaede (maple)

The refined yet raw feel (to varying degrees) of these pens is fascinating. I haven't put them all to a real writing test yet - to date, though, they perform as you would expect from these brands.

I know! It's over the top!!

Hmmmm, interesting. If they made a Hinoki wood fountain pen, I would consider getting one. I'll have to look into that.

Nice! The only wooden pens I have so far are three Sailors (Precious wood series), but I am planning on getting the other three in that series as well, and the Pilot Custom Enju looks really nice, I'd love to have that one as well ^_^

Thanks for sharing. FWIW, I have 3 wooden pens (Platinum Yakusugi, Sailor Tagayasan/Ironwood and a vintage Pilot Maple Custom Grandee) but that Chizusugi with its vertical grain has always entranced me...

The Chizusigi is special indeed. The scent is entrancing too. I find it a bit small for extended use though, unfortunately.

You are lucky to have the Maple Custom Grandee! Great vintage style.

Very nice! I have a cocobolo Hakase (which suspiciously looks like Sblakers's) arriving tomorrow from Germany.

I've been recently quite fascinated with wooden pens as well, after receiving my ebony Hakase. I love the look of your yew pen and am tempted to order both a Stylo-Art and Hakase as well.

I didn't know about Stylo-Art before this thread. Not much hands-on info available it seems.

Which model Hakase did you get?

Hmmm. I don't have a list. Probably safer that way (at least I can hope to forget about some of them, eventually).

Update: I was right; the cocobolo Hakase used to be owned by Sblakers. Hope he doesn't mind me mentioning it.  Thank you!

This pen has a fine nib tuned to write very wetly, so the line it puts down is more like a Japanese medium-broad line. Yamamoto-san's craftsmanship on this pen is just amazing. The cap and barrel are crafted from a single scantling (read: wood blank) and the wood grain lines up nicely when the pen is capped.

Yes but some of the models are quite interesting :)

I have a torpedo-shaped ebony Hakase, with a hammered gold ring around the cap. Truly amazing work; the only question really is -- what to get next?
