Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I'm really looking for the collections of Lapis, Sam Capote and Saskia Madding perhaps even Pterdactalus because I'm sure these FPNers have tried every ink imaginable.

Taz is off to a good start.

You know, AmberLea, if you move those books out of the way, you'd have a lot more room for inks....

Well, the new book shelves haven't been moved in yet.

But, tell me what ink you'd pick out for me?

How about a bottle of a really hard to get ink like Parker Penman Sapphire?

Hahaha, I know of only two inks I have that you don't, and one of them you could probably mix with your own inks (if you have the two, which you probably do) and one of them is probably on the way to you. (*Grins)

The first is a gorgeous red made from equal parts Platinum Mix Free Sunny Yellow and PMF Silky Purple.

The second is the KWZ Blue #3.

You'll probably have many more KWZ inks than I very soon, and I am looking forward to seeing your photos and tests.

Do you ever wonder what you will do with all that ink eventually. I mean we are all on this plant for a limited amount of time and from what I can tell you have enough ink to last 10 generations there. Do you have any idea of what you are going to do with them when one day when you have to stop fountain pen collecting.

I don't mean to be rude I have a similar addiction to notebooks. I have more then enough of them to finish my degree but I still keep buying them.

I do have to make an ink fund rather then a pen fund soon as thanks to you and other helpful inkophiles I have really started to find ink interesting.

That would be a good gift for any FPNer...I love my Emerald.

The old Skrip inks are great gifts.

Have you tried the Faber Castell Stone Grey? It is lovely.

How about Caran d'Ache Grand Canyon? Diamine Sepia, too.

Waterman Mystere Bleu for those who don't like their dark blue inks to remain dark blue but magically change to a pretty teal with red highlights.

I've tried a few Pharmacist inks, too. I don't know the actual names, but one is Absynth-something and the other is Turkish Nights (I think). Very pretty.

Ya know, I don't think of myself as an Inky person, but I might have to re-assess. (*Laughs)

Believe it or not, I consume in various ways about 20 bottles of 50 ml bottles per month, that's 1000 ml of ink that I send out to the inky world. Most of the ink I send out to others. About once a quarter I do a whole bunch of samples (hence how I consumed 14 bottles of the 150 ml Akkerman inks - most of the samples out there came from me). I also paint with it, rabidly doodle oh and I do that stuff called write.

When I give up inkkeeping, I'll give them to my kids who are developing their own love of the ink.

Hey what are those two types of bottles on the right between the Caran and the DeAtrementis? I don't recognize the blue box or the plastic bottles. I can identify everything else on the shelf.

I was going to say storage. I was thinking of Brian Anderson's pen storage case.

So, how about an antique ink bottle. 19th century, 16th century, 1st century.

An antique written document.

An antique stylus, say Roman era.

Oh the shame

I'd buy you some kind of lighting to fit in your case to make your collection glow at night and beckon you to take another fill . . .

(I think migo984 may well need to be named and shamed here . . . ;) )

What about a nice ink blotter....there was a nice English walnut one in the classifieds yesterday. Or what about a desk set, you know the type with provision to have a blotter pad to write on, a stamp dispenser, and in and out basket for letters etc. Anyone who has that much ink must write.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
