Montblanc Nib On A Twsbi?

MBFan

Recommended Posts

Hey guys and gals,

Wasn't sure where to post this (MB us forum, ROC sub forum?), so I thought I'd aim for everyone.

Does anyone know if a Boheme/145 nib would fit onto a TWSBI 580? I might have the opportunity to buy one loose, and though it would be a bit of fun on the TWSBI. And what about a 146 nib? Would they fit?

I did find the thread explaining which nib sizes would fit onto the TWSBI, but there was no mention of Montblanc nibs, and I'm not too sure what size the Boheme/145/146 size nibs are.

Any help greatly appreciated :)

Why would you want to ruin a good TWSBI? :)

Looking for a black SJ Transitional Esterbrook Pen. (It's smaller than an sj)

I really hope we get to see this in a photo on the forum soon!

A photo is the first thing I would do :D I think it would be a cool fusion. 'I have a dream, that luxury pens and economy pens will join hands hands'... :D

Opus7600- not entirely, but wow, that sure is weird to look at! Did that MB have a 145 size nib originally?

To be honest, I think I'm going to take a shot in the dark, because if it works, well, I don't know...but it would sure be interesting. If it doesn't, watch the classifieds :D

Or why not a TWSBI nib in a Montblanc? Either way, it would make the ultimate Frankenpen!

Cool to some, offensive to others.

I'm only considering it because I have the chance to buy a loose nib, and the only pen that it would fit would be my TWSBI. Then I thought how contradictory the whole pen would be, and then I thought it would be the perfect combination :D

Flying in the face of fountain pen snobbery. :P

How dare you sir! Don't you know that Montblanc nibs are crafted by the most skilled elves, who labor day and night in their secret workshop underneath Montblanc mountain, crafting nibs from pixie dust, skin flakes of upper class gentlemen, and gold! Such cutting edge, refined, and magical technology can only be fitted to the finest, most rare, most precious material in the entire universe, a Montblanc pen body.

Seeing your precious resin instrument marred by that pedestrian lower class nib, why that's simply outrageous. Remove the offensive blemish from that precious resin body, or I'll have to challenge you to a duel to restore the honor of that illustrious paragon of culture and humanity known as the Montblanc Company. :D

I'm in tears :D

FYI, they use unicorn blood for the 'rose' gold. Also, this explains the recent price increases; they are having trouble maintaining the unicorn paddocks, and hippogriff kibble is become more expensive. But shhhhh, keep it down, Montblanc might file a lawsuit for exposing company secrets.

Fret not lovers and haters of this idea. Said nib is now on its way to me, and should be with me by Wednesday. Photos and the like to follow soon.

If I had the opportunity to buy a loose MB nib (as the OP has stated), I wouldn't necessarily buy an MB body to put it in: I'd use it in what I had available. Geez.

I do it the other way 'round, using steel JoWo nibs in my Danitrios and steel Pelikan nibs in my Pelikan Toledos.

I eagerly await your photos and report.

They put a Mercedes engine in the Ssang Yong, so why not?

Hi MBFan. Sorry to revive an old thread, but I'm curious. Did the MB nib fit your TWSBI!

I have a MB with a cracked section that I'd like to use in a TWSBI if that works.

Edit: Please disregard this request MBFan. With a quick search, I located your followup thread. Thanks for sharing.

I thought Montblanc nibs were gently crafted between the thighs of virgins... Hold on, maybe that is only cuban cigars?

I personally prefer the Montblanc nibs in Esterbrooks and Watermans.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
