How Does A Pelikan F Convert To A Mb 146 Nib?

I am planning to buy a MB 146. I want to get a F, but found it to skip a little on a signature, at a MB Store, but the M was too broad. The salesperson says it was the pen I was writing with and a new F should writer thicker and smoother. I now use a Pelikan F m605 and am very happy with it.

How does a Pelikan F convert to a MB 146 nib?

My Pelikan F and MB 146 F are about the same. I also have a MB XF. Both the fine and XF write very smoothly. I have no skipping with either pen. Neither pens have had any adjustments and were smooth writers with no issues from the start.

I usually use Waterman or MB inks. Paper is generally Rhodia, Staples ARC, or similar.

I would purchase the MB 146 with the F nib, providing the Pelikan F is fine enough for you. You can always use the nib exchange program within the first 6 weeks if you are not happy with the width. Or you could have adjusted if needed to make it smoother, wetter.

My 146 F and M800 F write the same.

"how do I know what I think until I write it down?"

My MB 146 EF and F are wet smooth nibs, no scratching, no missed strokes

Enjoy your pens

I got confused when I thought you were asking to convert a Pelikan nib to a Montblanc nib. I assume it's a typo and you mean compare

Yes, I do mean compare.

  • 2 weeks later...

I ordered a M after trying them out at the MB Boutique. The fine skips on a fast signature.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
