Parker Duovac Pricing Question

Recommended Posts

I've seen the Parker Duovac striped models offered on eBay for upwards of $200, while a majority of reviews/articles price the pen often around $100 or even below? Is there supposed to be a disrespectancy between prices of models within the series, or has the price just gone up?

There are several sizes. This fact affects pricing. A small Striped Duofold can be purchased in less than $60, but a senior model can be over $100.

How strange. I haven't seen any for selling for that price. If you could direct me to any websites, that would be great.

I saw a blue/grey senior go for ~$150 on eBay a few weeks ago, just a standard v nib in fine.

Greg Minuskin had a few recently with custom stubs for $90-110 I believe. I have one and I think it's my favorite celluloid pen, love the stripes. The depth of the pearlescence is really pretty.

Good luck on finding one!

There are many variables that will dictate the price of a pen. Condition being one of the the biggest things to consider. The size of the pen matters, senior size pens are going to bring significantly more money than a small or junior size pen. Another thing to keep in mind is if the pen has been restored or is unrestored. I have seen well restored Senior size Duofold Vacumatics go for well over $200.00 and much more. Another factor in the price of these pens is who has done the restoration and the quality of their work.

Recent experience shows prices ranging from $90 for the Duovac Jr to $200+ for the Senior Deluxe (restored of course). The Senior has averaged about $150

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
