No, make a special trip. Don't wait, this bottle is super cool. Not cute, COOL.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

The store is just a couple of blocks away from a buddy I have to see anyway.

I hope it's not someone selling ink out of the back of a semi trailer. Make sure you ask the seller to show you the special handshake first, just to make sure it's legit. Sounds to me like another group buy is brewing here. Hey, if I could arrange one, anyone can! Think of it as community service, and a chance to get to know your local USPS clerk better. Now, when I walk into my PO, the woman who helped me with my re-shipping sees me and smiles, asking me where I'm getting ink or pens from or where I'm sending ink to this time. I told her last time, when I picked up my IR ink from Japan, that I would bring in a sample of my penmanship so she could see how cool these pens and ink really are!

Breathe. Take one step at a time. Don't sweat the small stuff. You're not getting older, you are only moving through time. Be calm and positive.

Yes, the seller does know the secret hand-shake. Does $26.95 seem about right?

A bottle of ink costs €15. Akkerman will fit 30 in one box, which makes the box worth €450, and shipping will cost €50. Thus, including shipping, one bottle will cost €16.67, if you order them 30 at a time. That is $23.

I'm leaving out customs claims and tax duties, because I don't know anything about that for the US. If there are none, the seller is making $3.95 profit per bottle (which seems reasonable if he's the one importing them). If there are taxes and claims on top of the importing price, the seller is making less or maybe no profit.

Assuming the ink in the bottle is actually Akkerman ink, the price seems OK.

The cost per bottle to me in the Cities was $19.55. I asked $20 to keep it simple to pay. There was no tax or customs fees. I ordered 30 bottles, which is the most they will ship here and is also the best price for shipping. I think Vanness is asking close to $30 not including shipping to you from Arkansas. But, can you put a price on cu..,ah, cool?? I'd say that price is good, as long as you get the color you want.

Charles - I see that you live in Luck. You are not going to get your ink from Mike Carter at the Fountain Pen Recycler, are you? He's in my pen club and done repairs to several of my pens. He will be at the Chicago show next month and will have some Akkerman ink for sale there, too. Nice man to do business with.

I picked up my bottle today. I told my wife she could pick out the color. She picked PINK! Thank God he didn't carry it. So I got Blauw-Groen - what ever that is.

Blauw-Groen is Blue-Green.

$ generalize --woman --color (enter)

UNIX says: Having a woman pick your color is AN. EPIC. MISTAKE. They will ALWAYS pick pink or purple. If not available, they'll pick some weird color like bright yellow or neon green. If you're lucky, they'll pick light blue. Women can't be trusted to advise men in important matters such as colors.

Her second choice WAS purple. Most un-manly.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
