Akkerman Bottles - Comparative Pictures

I would buy your bottle of pink from you

Your in London right? Wouldn't your rather buy it directly from Akkerman? The shipping would be much cheaper.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I love the bottles! I think I need to join this group buy as well. But what color do I pick?

Hi my name is Ellen and I want ALL the inks!

Ellen, start with a group buy. OR do as I did, buy a whole bunch, make samples of them all. Offer the samples for sale to pay off your inky debt and you will find out what you like.

Yes I'll start with the group buy :) Just not sure which color to pick...yet.

I have a metric ton of samples arriving today. I took advantage of Goulet's little sale. Luckily I should beat my husband home before he sees the box

The other advantage is that there's no charges of any sort (customs duty, UK VAT etc.) ordering from Akkerman for shipment to the UK, as both are EU countries. You just pay Dutch VAT and shipping charges to Akkerman at the time of ordering.

If you are ordering from Akkerman, consider ordering one of their chamois leather pen wipes - they work extremely well.

Funny. The Akkerman bottle seems to be a one on one copy of the Gimborn bottle, right down to the stem in the cap and the shape of the label.

It's sad for me that there are so many manufacturers of ink. Otherwise I'd just get a bottle of Akkerman black, and after it's empty, I'd refill it with Noodler's black from their huge 133 ml / 4.5 oz bottles. Now that I want to try multiple inks (mostly blue), I can't do that.

Me afraid? Hey, I'm looking at my man card right now. :)

It's okay - some of the members of my local pen club (99% men) had a bit of a stumble with the "cute" thing, but I believe all concerned have recovered nicely.

Okay, so here's my tasteless joke of the day, what did the elephant say to the naked man?

:) I think any bottle that will successfully fill the largest of the piston pens, is beyond cute. :) If you had never seen the larger bottle, this bottle would be huge and it is only tiny in comparison. That being said, I had to tell the elephant joke to my pre-teen boy who thinks any "naughty word" is a cause for breaking out in giggles.

I've seen one guy on youtube handling the original 150ml Akkerman bottle.

It's *HUGE*.

It's could be coincidence, but looking at the poster's name, it may actually be you :P

It's a pity Akkerman ink became so much more expensive after switching to the smaller bottles. I've seen people in older posts quote prices of €16.75 for the 150ml bottles, while the 60ml ones now cost €15. That's a raise from 0.11 €/ml to 0.25 €/ml, raising it from the low end (Quink, Diamine, Pelikan), to the higher mid-end such as J. Herbin and De Atrementis.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
