What's Your Next Addition To The Flock?

We've talked about your most recent additions and that has been fabulously entertaining to me, absolutely love the pictures. But what about that pen you don't have, haven't found, can't (yet) afford but plan to get.

Of course we can all list out a half dozen un-obtanium gilt custom/vintage fusion masterpieces which we know we won't really ever hold in the hand (the Raden and Maki-e for me). But tell us seriously, what is the pen or pens next on your 'list;, pens that you are actively seeking or saving for, or in the case of those which have been announced for future production, that you are waiting for.

How do you choose? Is there a theme to your acquisitions, or are you just after certain models which have tickled your fancy? Help fuel my day dreams!

Well for me I would love it to be the chronological order for all new releases this year, starting with the 200 in Cognac. That is one proud looking bird!

I am waiting to acquire a Parker Dufold as one of a collector suggested 10 pens list which included a dufold as well. Probably , I am a parker-sheaffer type person .I have written with this pen and found it a masterpiece writer ,and it is available here . The other " dreamed"pens are very very hard to find here!

I'm waiting to see if they are going to release the rumoured M205 Duo Orange highlighter with the 1.5mm nib. After that it will be the rumoured M101 in red.

Good question, Dr Codfish! I wish there was a method to the madness...Since I'm still making up for lost time, there are a few pens

I want, none of which I can afford at the moment, and all of them compete for my attention, like wrestlers trying to get on top of the pack: Piccadilly Circus (cannot decide btwn fountain or rollerball version, would like both),

brown tortoise from 80's/90's, and 100N (1 black caps with green/grey, 1 red caps with cream/reddish brown). Then there are all the new releases, and the M800 tortoise.

What determines a purchase between these depends on: a) what's available, price, etc. and B) vintage pelikan throws a wrench in my otherwise fairly reasonable list. That's the long-winded answer. I'm trying to decide if it's better to go straight for the vintage pens I want, or get the modern ones first. In the end I guess it doesn't really matter since I'll probably end up with all of them!

Long-term, I would like a complete set of the vintage 400 colors and a Toledo, but we'll see, I am really liking the 100N size so that might change my future wish list!

Eventually I would like to get two additional nibs for my 400NN's: an OF and a Medium (I already have 2 very different B nibs)

I would also like a M450 tortoise & vermeil and another 100N, this time with a B nib.

And after that.... Who knows? ;)

I'm thinking the next 101n in red. But I might also add another m800 or m1000 (with a BB nib).

I'm probably queuing up for the new M200 cognac demo.

i would love the cognac demo, a blue m600 one day, and of course a tortoise 400x. I think those three in addition to the pelikans i currently own would be a great collection.

I would love a Pelikan M1005 but pens here in Australia are so expensive, must be the taxes I reckon

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
