Finished these two today, managing to get one made in an afternoon! Really liking the beveled end look. Will start another one with a clip tomorrow.

C&C's welcome.

They are both simply beautiful. My preference is with the first (I love the shape), though I have to admit that the bevel ends on the second catch my interest. I had been cosidering something like that, but never got around to it. Beautifully done indeed. A bit of work getting the ends finished and polished I am sure.

The first one is a traditional shape, reminds me of a Delta Vintage or a Marlen Nature without a clip. The second one with the beveled ends is an eye catcher. Maybe the ends, at least the cap top, may benefit from some silver ornaments.

Would you also consider rings around the cap?

Are these C/C fillers or eyedropper?

Both are beautiful! Great work.

I love the material and shape of the the first one. The second one is very unique, I can imagine that one with a flat side to use as a desk pen.

Thanks Ken. The ends in some ways are easier than finishing of say a rounded end on the lathe. I made a sled for my bandsaw, slice off the ends then 320/400/600 on a flat surface follwed by the buffer.

Funny you should say about a silver ornament. I had the thought of fitting a roll stopper to, and have had a little silver gekko staring up at me from my desk that would look quite cute on the pen.

Both are very beautiful. What is the first blank made of?

Tony

Thanks Tony. Both are European acrylics, the first is Valencia, and the second Naples.

That purple pen is lovely. I would also like to know how it fills

Thanks Chrissy. Both are cartridge/converter/eyedropper.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
