Help With Customising Midori Travelers Notebook

Mafia Geek

Recommended Posts

So I jumped on the bandwagon a few days back and got a Midori Travelers Notebook and so far am loving it. The notebook and paper quality is really great.

One thing I really would like to figure out though, is if there's some way to add more bookmakers, the string that's attached to the fixed spine.

Any help on this, even if it's to say it can't be done (though I somehow doubt it's not possible), would be great.

The Midori style bookmarks are fed through the metal thingy and tied off to feed more through you may have to pull the other elastic tighter to make a little space.

I hope that helps

I don't have a clue about the bookmarker. I've done well with the videos found on Youtube. Suggest start by going to gouletpens.com and find his videos on the Midoris. He does a great job of instruction. The videos are also on Youtube so once you find his and goto YT you will find other suggestions of similar videos.

There is also a facebook Midori group. They are helpful if you ask a question.

Thanks for the help. So far I've got three notebooks in there and got it setup how I like it, but because I have three notebooks (a bullet journal, a misc notes, and a weekly planner) I'd like to have a bookmark for each as I use all three regularly throughout the day at work. I might look into whether I can add more bookmarks if I take the metal clasp apart and get a repair kit, though the kit doesn't come with extra cords I'm sure I can find something to use.

The easiest way I can think to give you what you are looking for is to use one piece of elastic cord and tie it to the elastic that holds the notebooks in place and you will have two ends to act as book marks.

Me personally, I'd do a lot of playing around with lightly tying extra bookmarks to various places. Maybe consider some string attachment to the actual inserts and they would stay with the insert when removed. Don't know how easy to mix with the rubber cords. I'm wimpy because once you undo the metal thing you are likely forced to buy another to look right. Again, me personally, know I'd goon up hammering it back together a time or 3.

Hi, SallyLyn -- what's the URL for this Midori Facebook Group? Thanks!!!

Paperclips or true bookmarks that slide on book pages work. I find I prefer a somewhat fancier or whimsical paperclip to the strings when I don't need to move the mark more than once a day.

Another thing you can is a double length string to create 2 bookmarks and loop it between the elastic and the leather at the top of the TN

Besides a feed of facebooky midori fans, there are also youtubers who take great pleasure inflicting upon us their midoriness.

I ride a recumbent, I play go, I use Macintosh so of course I use a fountain pen.

I just tied off against the main elastic using some chord that was thin. Double knot and away I went. Taking it through the spine is more permanent but I was in a hurry..

Rob Maguire (Plse call me "M or Mags" like my friends do...)I use a Tablet, Apple Pencil and a fountain pen. Targas, Sailor, MB, Visconti, Aurora, vintage Parkers, all wonderful.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
