I'm Looking For A Purpley Blue Help Would Be Appreciated.

Hi

I want to re-start my quest for my perfect ink. I thought I had found it in J.herbin Bleu Nuit but just wish it dried the colour it was when it is wet. What I'm essentially after is a blue with a noticeable purple tinge to it. not a full on purple but just something a little more special then everyday Blue Skrip.

I was thinking Pelikan Edelstin Sapphire and would be happy to go for however I would rather make sure before it was approximately what I was after before throwing £15 at a bottle.

Any experience with it and other suggestions available on amazon UK please?

I think there seems to be a fine line between too blue and too purple, in my opinion.

Since you likely have access to Waterman inks consider making your own using the purple and the blue, not the turquoise. Do a search on this site, especially in the ink recipes section. The original Blurple is 1:1. I make it a touch more blue. Great ink, great flow, safe for all pens, often cleans out junk in older or ignored pens.

I received a letter in Aurora Blue and thought it purpley. It also appeared to be highly saturated and luxurious if that word can be put to inky purposes. I know there are reviews of it on the forum.

Both Montblanc Royal Blue and Sailor Jentle Ultramarine have a luminous purple tinge, both beautiful, imho, and excellent performers as well.

Happiness is a real Montblanc...

Aurora Blue, Diamine Sapphire Blue. Each is a rich blue with a hint of purple.

Edelstein Sapphire is not a purple blue. It is just sapphire. I'm looking for that kind of blue too. I tried to mix Waterman Florida Blue and Tender Purple but that mix is quite dark.

+1 for Sailor Jentle Ultramarine. It's a gorgeous rich blue-purple. It behaves well & is readily available. Reasonable price too.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

And this one doesn't look purplish until you look at it near other blues.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
