This is the second in a sequence of reviews of a new line of inks produced by Tintext, Dye Manufacturers of Australia - and at present only available in Australia / New Zealand. Unfortunately the inks turn up a little 'darker' in the scans than in real life - hopefully the comparisons in this review will help - as will the Q-tip swab and the finger print in the upper right corner!

 

This is a lovely bright green ink that's not overly dark (compared to, say, Noodler's Marine Green and J. Herbine Lierre Sauvage), but very easy to read and very pleasant to play with.

 

Feel free to ask any questions - and I'll endeavour to answer them as best I can.

Very interesting color! I was at a Montblanc store and the sales representative handed me a FP to test it out and it was green. At first I was like no. But it is unique. I think black is boring and my current color of choice is royal blue. I will have to experiment. Nice illustrations btw! Thank you! :notworthy1:

Thanks for your feedback - I'm a fan of green inks too, and though I tend to favour more 'conservative' (i.e. darker) inks as a general rule, this one makes a nice change. Black and blue (Noodler's inks) are my 'stock-in-trade' for work - but a splash of colour here and there tends to liven things up!

Yep, based on your 'swatch' I'd say they're pretty similar. Depending on the pen and the wetness of the line, it can be somewhat darker and bolder, or more of a 'bright and light' kind of green. Thanks for putting this up!

 

The Toucan inks are designed to be freely 'mixable' with each other - which is an added bonus for those more inclined to experiment. I've not been game to mix and match between different brands of inks - though maybe that's just me being a scaredy-cat!

I agree - it comes out a little lighter (like this) in the Jinhao x450 I've got inked up with Bright Green at present - compared to the 'bolder' green of the Noodler's pen... Really interested to get your impressions on the ink - I'm a comparative newbie, so don't have a lot of different inks to compare to (mostly Noodler's, Parker and Diamine... Oh, and one bottle of Waterman's, Serenity Blue).

Where/how can you purchase Toucan Inks in the USA or shipment into the USA?

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off.
