Several members have asked my about swaps of my iron gall inks, so I will upload some writings with the different inks I make. I am currently contacting the ones on the waiting list, starting from January last year. Anyhow: please be patient.

Very nice inks, I really like the Darkening Absinthe, but really they are all amazing!

Gorgeous.

Excellent work!

Sepia black looks so subtle and delicious.

Orange Brown and Red Black aren't to shabby either ;)

Normally I detest fuchsia of any kind but Sang Royal is magnificent! They are all wonderful. Do you sell these? If so, please give me a pm or tell me where you sell them. Splendid! Belgium? I should have known. I fell in love with Belgium.

Very lovely. Please do let us know when you've caught up on the waitlist. I know there are at least two of these that I want to order as soon as you've finished the waitlist.

Pharmacist, can I have you send me that swab you just did for the next fade experiment?

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Create a Ghostly Avatar and I'll send you a letter. Check out some Ink comparisons: The Great PPS Comparison

Don't know where to start?  Look at the Inky Topics O'day.  Then, see inks sorted by color: Blue Purple Brown Red Green Dark Green Orange Black Pinks Yellows Blue-Blacks Grey/Gray UVInks Turquoise/Teal MURKY

Pharmisists,

I'm a confirmed iron-gall user. How do I get on the list?

Thanks,

JasCas

Yeah, I dig some of these colors and they are NOT normal blue-black IG. Absinthe, Sepia Brown, and Orange Brown all float my boat.

If you do make more, I'd love some.

My thinking about how iron gall inks look has been completely changed. Those are wonderful looking.

Does the writing change color over time?

My thinking about how iron gall inks look has been completely changed. Those are wonderful looking.

Does the writing change color over time?

Yes it does, it becomes darker. But the above scan/picture is almost the final color after proper oxidation ( I think 90% of the final color). On some papers without bleaching agents, the initial color can be rather light. This is absolutely normal, as the final color takes days or even a week before will be obtained. It is the IG body, which preserves the writing. The color is only added to give it a nice initial color and probably for the next decades when kept away safely in maps.

The strongest ink is the Urkundentinte, which contains 2.5x the amount of the permanent ferrogallotannate compounds, which forms the IG body of the ink.Purpura Imperialis is a ink that is almost as dark as the Urkundentinte, but with a purplish cast. If you want a shade that mimicks the ancient Hawthorn ink (a iron gall ink too, used in the mediëval times to write on parchment/vellum) then the Terra Incinerata is a close one. A lighter version is Oriens-Occidens giving a warm brown final color (see scan above).

All these inks can be used in fountain pens (with some proper care and regular rinsing) and with dip pens. Actually even to me this dual behavior of the ink surprises me: most dip pen inks, do not flow well in fountain pen inks and fountain pen inks often drop from dip pen nibs, when the pen nib touches the paper.

The red/cyan/green inks are for those loving fancy colors and those who want a tealish hue to the writing. I made Sang Real ink, because there seems to be demand for a blood like ink, actually it looks like dried blood, when put on paper, well more like Klingon Blood :lticaptd: .

Beautiful work. Highest praise for all of them. Like others, and having had a few of your early ones, I would love to order them all.

Best regards!

With the new FPN rules, now I REALLY don't know what to put in my signature.

I emailed you a while ago with no response. Does that mean I am on the waiting list or should I contact you again?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
