Prototype Flat Top Kingsize Bulk Filler - " To Post Or Not To Post?

Hello Pen friends !

Attached some photos of a new version Flattop Kingsize .

As you can see , this model gives the advantage that it can be positively "posted ", without any risks of cracking de cap lip by "wedging".

We learned that many users love a " postable " version of the flat top , and - using the same cap and body " of the previously posted "streamline" - version, production becomes also more standardized .

In fact, the only differences between the " streamline" and "flat top" is the filling knob button and the cap enclosure screw.

When buying these two complementary parts you can even alter the version yourself!

I wonder what you think of this design, do you prefer this approach, of do you favor the " non - postable " version -?

Some dimensions:

Closed Length : 138mm

Without cap : 134mm

Posted cap : 164mm

The other dimensions are the same as specified the " streamline" .

Thank you in advance for your suggestions!

Regards, Francis

I think a postable pen has a greater appeal even though this pen is quite large posting it looks quite nice as it makes a statement especially when it is over sized pen. I wouldn't not buy a pen I couldn't post however having the post option ensures the cap doesn't roll off the desk and potentially get damaged.

Thank you for sharing these images. For me, being able to post a "kingsize" would not be very important. My hands are small enough that I do not find posting the normal Bulkfiller comfortable, though I do it sometimes.

That said, I like this design more than the earlier design you showed. It has a sort of teardrop appearance that is very agreeable.

Good work.

David.

Definitively a postable version, the streamline version was already ok, now the flattop version has lost the formula one nose it is even more beautiful than the strealine. Keep on the good work, Francis.

This is my favourite version so far. I don't post pens (like that one) that are large enough for me write comfortable with unposted; however, I the non-stepped barrel looks much better to me.

Nice!!

I just don't like the logo... it reminds me of this: http://icantrelaxingreece.files.wordpress.com/2013/03/golden-dawn1.jpg

Sorry to read this.

But the logo refers to the unique "Bulk filler" filling system.

I shows in fact the "parked " piston with the anchoring teeth of the piston engaged in the anchoring teeth on the barrel enclosure nut.

Nothing to do with fascist symbols !

Yes i know, I have no doubt that there is absolutely no connection :)

The ability to post a pen is important to me as I hate leaving a cap on my writing surface. This increases the chance of lose or damage due to accidentally knocking the cap on the ground. That is why I prefer the Pelikan 200/400 series over the larger Pelikans. The cap seems to me to balance the pen very well on this series in particular.

Of course if you seldom take your pens out of the house this becomes less of an issue but I do take mine out to the town quite often.

About the logo: I have no problem with it, but I found the old 50/50 white/black more to my liking.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
