Thank you for your review! The colour looks nice though not worth the price of the bottle for me! There are many similar which dry faster.

Wish list: Aurora Optima

Current inked Pens: Pilot Decimo - Noodlers BBH, MB Mozart - MB Lavender

Pelikan M150 - Noodlers Kung te Cheng

Yes, I looked at some samples of other colours I have and it was very similar to De Atramentis Cobalt Blue, but more purple, and Pelikan Edelstein Tanzanite but more blue.

On cheap paper it already shades better than these so I'm curious how it would look on better paper. I have some different quality papers on their way and will update the review when they come in.

I'll wait for Levis Indigo Blue. It'll look and smell the way brand-new Levis looked and smelled in the good old days.

I love the smell of fountain pen ink in the morning.

Louis Vuitton did open up a temporary store in Paris dedicated to writing, the Cabinet d'Écriture in Saint-Germain-des-Prés.

These inks were developed for that purpose.

So as funny as it may seem, there is validity to their selling inks.

Like it a lot. I have 4 of the colors, and have to say the Breum and Gold are my favorites.....

I just picked up the Brun and really like the colour. Now you have me thinking about the Gold...

It is a gorgeous color, darker and very different for example from Iro Ina Ho.....

Are they worth the money? Who knows, I think they are a lot like Herbin with more intensity.....

Best,

I wonder if these inks are only available in France?

I'm in the united states and the fancy Vuitton store in San Francisco gave me a very odd look and after a lengthy delay told me cheerful "no" when I asked if they sold the ink.

The flash-heavy website reports the ink as "sold out" when I tried to buy it online... though I'm not sure how keen I am to spend 50$ for 50ml of (luxury, high fashion) ink.

May ask where you purchased your bottle?

I got it from the online store, but the Canadian one. Although it did ship from the US. It seems to be sold out for now but it says call for availability when you click the item details.

It came with free shipping, the US price at par with the Canadian dollar and no customs broker fees so that eased the cost as shipping is usually $15-20 and the exchange difference is $7.

I'm usually looking at $35-40 just to get a regular priced bottle shipped here.

My papers came in today, so as promised, here is a scan on Clairefontaine, Rhodia, Tomoe River Japan Cream and G. Lalo Verge de France Ivory.

It has some serious shading!

I've been using this ink for a week now and I really enjoy the texture and look of it.

Uuuu, thank you for posting those different paper + ink samples. This inks looks nice..

Regarding the cost.. I do occasionally wonder how the fine hockey fans north of me (I'm in the united states) get their inks without having to overpay... my second thought is that, well maybe / hopefully the french historical influences results in certain french ink makers making their inks available without the gouging on price... There are a lot of really nice french inks out there.

Out of curiousity, do we know if Vuitton makes ink themselves, or maybe they have someone in their keiritsu make it for them? It doesn't look exactly like any blue ink made by the other major companies that I know of.

Nice colour, shame about the price - is anything from Diamine close enough to go for?

I'll wait for Levis Indigo Blue. It'll look and smell the way brand-new Levis looked and smelled in the good old days.

Now I'm waiting for The Good Captain to demand an ink that looks and smells like Levis that have been worn for a month without being washed.

It is made in France and they don't make it, so that limits it. It would appear to me to be Herbin, but who knows. It is more saturated than their standard line, but similar to the 1670 inks. In fact the blues are exceptionally close. I really like the Brun and Gold a lot. There is something distinct in the gold, more flecky and more intense than Ina Ho. I have the Blue, Gray, Gold and Brun....

Hi Sarahfar. I just ordered the gold and tried to get the grey but they were sold out. How is the grey? Do you happen to have a writing sample you'd be willing to post pictures of? I would much appreciate anything you could tell me about the grey- from the swab it looks very interesting.

An update--LV now is offering ink in 12 colors on its US web site. The price is now $52 per bottle. When you see that they are charging $120 for a converter, that doesn't seem like so much :yikes: .

Rationalizing pen and ink purchases since 1967.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
