Yes I would say so. I have the jet black version of the one on the right. I love the various finishes they come in. I am not a green man but I love those.

Hi everyone! This thread apparently took off on its own whilst I was gone. My 12 year-old son was in four performances of a high school production of South Pacific this weekend, a culmination of three months of rehearsals, and now that it's the day after and it's all over, I've realized I am totally exhausted. The cast party went on until 130 a.m. this morning, and my husband and I chaperoned as an adult presence was needed. I don't know on what I was running but now I've lost my steam.

Christopher, your pen is LOVELY. I would think there is some fluorescing going on but I am just not schooled enough on that condition. Still, the pen is quite beautiful and wow, what a super flex nib. I will certainly post a photo of handwriting done with my pen. Just need to have another cup of coffee and go grocery shopping first! Everything that I let go for the performances is piled up now and needs to be attended to.

And please, no apologies. I don't look at others' posts as hijacking a thread. It adds to the thread topic's interest to have myriad comments and member posts.

Fountainpagan, I am waiting on the repair of my vacuum filler. I do have my other lever filler Doric, though, and will post the handwriting sample soon.

Ray, let's see your jet black version!

Betweenthelens (I always read "Helen" in your online tag!), I still love your pen! If you like that sort of ink, take a look at one of my very favourites: Diamine Tourmaline, which I bought from Xfountainpens, rebottled and going as Chesterfield. It comes in plastic bottles that are slightly small-necked for filling; but I can live with that. It is slightly more olive than what you have mixed up...

That's funny, Christopher. Someone else on here thought my name was Helen, too. It's actually Laura. And there's another member on here whose name is betweenthelines.

I will check out the Diamine Tourmaline/Chesterfield. Thank you for the suggestion. I did just receive Montblanc Leonardo Red Chalk and I love, love, love it. I inked my new 400N green Pelikan (a very generous gift along with a blue 400N Pelikan from a dear friend) with it and I adore it.

  • 3 weeks later...

I just want to say Framebaer repaired my Bayard Safety and my Eversharp Doric and he did an excellent job on both. I would highly recommend him. I'm a very happy camper right now.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
