Please List The Number Of Inks You Have By Brand

Blue_Moon

Recommended Posts

I saw a similar, but different post, and began wondering about this. Bottles only, please, no samples. You don't have to list the colors within that brand, unless you'd just like to do so. Please use this format:

1. 8 Waterman
2. 5 Diamine
3. 1 Iroshizuku

4. 2 Private Reserve

Franklin-Christoph, Italix, and Pilot pens are the best!
Iroshizuku, Diamine, and Waterman inks are my favorites!

Apica, Rhodia, and Clairefontaine make great paper!

PELIKAN - Too many birds in the flock to count. My pen chest has proven to be a most fertile breeding ground.

What is question's answer's intended for?

Just curious as to how many various brands of ink people use/have; observing which brands are common to many/most people. Noticing that some people don't have many of one brand, yet have many brands, while others have a great number of one or two particular brands and just a few others. Also, noticing how many inks people have in relation to the number of posts on FPN.

For example, those who have a great number of posts have been around the FP world for some time (at least I would think), yet some of those have a very few inks - referring to few brands and few inks compared to other response (not most people in this category, but some). This leads me to believe that they may have found inks that they really enjoy and are not nessarily interested in exploring a great deal further. They may try new inks from time to time, but overall, they're very content. It also could mean that they may be actively looking at different inks, but have just never found anything better than their go-to brand, other than a few unique colors they wanted. Either way, these people have a strong affinity to one or two brands. This may or may not be the case, but all of the responses are interesting to observe.

Thank you everyone for responding, and please continue to respond.

Anyone with your own observations, please feel free to post.

3 Sailor

2 Waterman

2 Visconti

1 Montblanc

You might think Noodler's was my favorite, but I wouldn't say that. It's mostly about color and performance, and I'm just interested in more of the Noodler's colors than, say, Herbin.

I know my id is "mhosea", but you can call me Mike. It's an old Unix thing.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
