One more: a Coral Red Danish Montblanc 206

It is considerably bigger than 202

In fact is a bit thicker than a Meisterstück 146, and as long without the cap. And the most important: is equiped with a big 6 nib, with a lot of flex.

With cap is a bit shorter than 146 (from left, 2000's 146P; 1990's 146; 1970's 146 and 206 Coral Red

Absolutely beautiful. Thanks very much for the photos. I have been looking for one of those for a while.

Being Spaniard I have none of those made by Wiese in Spain. Only I have this pair of colorful Danish.

Why don't they make anything like this now?? It's all black! The are wonderful articles you have.

I keep thinking about selling some of my pens but all that happens is I keep acquiring more!

Received another one today. This is a Spanish made 42 in black. I have searched the web but have not seen another. While I do have the striated version and these do show up from time to time the black ones seem rarer. If anyone has contrary evidence please let me know. So I took it out of the package and it had been nicely cleaned so I inked it up. Wow, while the nib is very springy it is not actually flexible. However, it is by far the smoothest writing MB nib I have ever used. The pen is obviously in well used condition but this one should make it into my regular rotation. Here are a few photos.

Today I received a Montblanc Danish made 204 in black from a seller on the classifieds section. I have inked it and it writes quite well with a good amount of flex. I would not call it flexible but semi-flex probably describes it best. Here are a couple of photos.

Many thanks for these pictures orfew. I find the whole area of non-German Montblanc pens (and pencils) a fascinating one and as such, I really appreciate you starting this excellent thread.

A real treat.

Fine selection of lovely vintage MB! Unfortunately, I only own German vintage but it's great to see the variety formerly available. Real classics!

Those danish MBs are looking very nice IMO, particularly the 224 green marbled.

Thanks for sharing, farmdogfan!

Those green marbled 224 are really nice pieces! I'd say these danish models are sleepers... Their prices will eventually go up.

Best regards, Kai

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
