I too want to thank the Forum masters for the effort, specially in these dates, and for having in mind that a hoard of pen geeks were impatient out there waiting at the hut's door ;-)

Happy New Year

I'd like to add my thanks also to the Admins, Mods and others who helped to upgrade the site  . I know what it's like to have to do stuff like that.

I've been trying to get back into the habit of coming here, and I'm glad that I'll be able to continue at that again. I really missed this place for that week it was down.

Thank you for reporting this.

I will check this out. From the looks of it (I tried it too, same result) this error may have been caused by the forum software upgrade we did (had to do). In the mean time, you should be able to use the FPN Google search.

HTH, warm regards, Wim

Advanced Search is working again - implemented a temporary fix until we get a permanent one :).

Warm regards, Wim

Thank you all for your kind words, much appreciated by the entire team and me.

We have been researching better providers since the events in March/April/May lasts year, ended with a list of a bit over 50 highly recommended host providers, and after some testing, 3 months ago we were left with 2 on our short list. After extensive testing the past 3 months the idea was to move in a much less invasive way, but effectively we were forced to bite the bullet and do it now. At least it is out of the way, and we can now enjoy the benefits of much more modern hardware, and much better and finegrained, seamless upgrade facilities in the future.

Things went comfortably well, timewise anyway, even if we had to disappear from the internet for the period we moved - and all achieved in 6 days with an original estimate of 5 to 7 days - not too bad ;).

Warmest regards, Wim

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
