New King Size Bulk Filler In Black Sem Ebonite And Inlaid "quail Egg Shell" Bands

Hi all,
Thought I should evaluate another aesthetically design approach...
Lots of complementary work, but well worth it in my opinion.
Searching in the shell parts for the best fitting shell particle takes a lot of time, and gluing the particles perfectly in place is even more a monks task.
Took me 9 hours to finish the complementary work, and ........a sleepless night due to a blocked neck spine
Luckily my friend is a chiropractor and helped me out of the pain and misery the next day
The glued shell particles in the grooves are covered with cyanoacrylate glue in several consecutive layers, harden overnight , and then turned flush on the lathe and polished
The ring grooves become progressively smaller towards the section, pitch between the rings are all identical.

Note the yellow colored transparent ink window
Giving the black cap a link to the barrel inlays, I decided making also an inlaid groove in the cap top
Note the nib unit - nib,HR feed and housing- screw in the section.
Your comments , critiques and suggestions are most welcome as usual!
My best wishes for a healthy and joyful 2014 for you all and your loved ones !!
Francis

Astounding! Absolutely amazing attention to detail. And the best part is your bulk filler filling system inside the barrel. Well done, Francis!

Hi Francis

My wife and I would also like to wish you, Werner and the team at Komec a healthy and prosperous 2014!

An interesting material for those rings.

One small thing bothers me. The cap band in metal disturbs the sequence. How would it look visually to have the smallest ring at the bottom end and the largest at the cap-top? where the width of the metal capband should be in order with the quails egg rings?

Hello Francis,

Also the best wishes.

Nice pen, some Raden influence?

As for me I prefer the blue Tibaldi celluloid.

Hi Dick,

Thanks for your comment !

This could be done

The gradually decreasing ring width towards the section - as shown now- symbolizes ( or refers to ) the gradually decreasing ink volume.

No, no Raden influence, just an idea..

I even didn't know what Raden was, looked it up, very nice these mother of pearl inlays !

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
