Visit To Novelli Pens

I recently had the unique opportunity to visit Novelli Pens in Roma.

Wow! I went to Rome on a religious pilgrimage, and got a pen pilgrimage at no extra cost.

Marco was an excellent host as was his staff, who gave me some pointers on the finer aspects of soccer and more importantly, what colors to wear.

He shared with me that he has a new special edition of pens that Omas has made just for him (beautiful).

Nothing but eye candy for the pen fancier from start to finish.

I've purchased one pen from him off his website (Omas Burlwood with rose gold trim, no longer available in US; he has the euro version). He has provided exceptional customer service and has always responded to emails with 24 hrs. I find his website to be very user friendly too.

I have recently ordered a few pens from Marco and he is a class act. Responded very quickly to all my emails and his prices are very, very good.

My first order is currently on it's way to me but the journey is resembling a Michael Palin travel documentary. It went from Rome to Paris to Guangzhou and is now somewhere between Singapore and Perth!!!!

I'd love to visit Novelli if i ever got the chance to go to Rome. I'm sure I'd end up buying something.

I have had the good fortune of visiting Novelli more than a couple of times. It is such a beautiful store, filled with genuine, helpful staff (including Marco), and in a lovely smaller street in Rome, next to the Antica Birreria Peroni (a good place to drink special Peroni beers to celebrate a purchase!).

I have also experienced excellent sales and after-sales service from Marco - all the way to the other side of the world (Australia) - and each time I purchase from Marco from his website or by email, the experience of his beautiful store in wonderful Roma comes front of mind.

I had the wonderful experience of visiting Novelli earlier this week during a trip to Rome. What a great experience in a quaint shop with a varied selection of pens. By coincidence Novelli was only three blocks from my hotel (some would say there are no coincidences). I had been interested in the Delta Fusion 82 with its fused nib but had not had the opportunity to try out one. Novelli had a great selection of 82s in the back -- various colors and nibs. I tried out a stub and a M, and purchased a green M. Love this pen, and I am going to treasure it along with a couple of my Pelikans and the lava pen.

Marco and a woman working there were very helpful. Marco shared some thoughts on the difference between stub nibs and others. He also helped me check out another pen on which I have my eye. Finally, he helped me fill out a form to request a refund on the EU taxes on the pen -- since I live in California. (Also, shoutout to Glenn's Pens for writing about Novelli at his web site.)

good to hear

Pens are like watches , once you start a collection, you can hardly go back. And pens like all fine luxury items do improve with time

Does anyone know if he still sells old pens? He had a stock of Aurora Duocarts back in 2011. I am hoping to visit in a couple of weeks.

Why don't you ask him yourself?

He is a premium member here just under the name Novelli.

He used to respond fast to a personal message in the past, or email. He must be back by now from Italian holidays....

What a helpful thread. I leave for Rome tomorrow and I have now added Novelli's to my itinerary.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
