Flashy Kingsize Acrylic Bulk Filler Prototype…..

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Being retired I must stay busy, so I've just finished this "flashy" Bulk filler prototype….

The material is a yellow pearly veined acrylic, rather flashy...

The filling knob an cap enclosure are made from black ebonite.

Dimensions and ink capacity are identical to the "Tibaldi celluloid " version.

The barrel is a little transparent, so one is just able so see the ink content.

I expect some will like this version, but the majority will.. hate it, or am i wrong?

As always you comments and critiques are most welcome !

Francis

Hi,

I don't really like the veining on the particular material used. It's quite odd in the pattern. Maybe if it was a more pure, bright color, it would be a little more appealing. I really like the idea though.

Ha die Francis! I like it too, a lot, both flasy and classy, as is the other one. To me, the nib's size may be slightly disproportionate in comparison to the body.

The barrel being 14.5mm and the minium grip diameter of the section being 12mm I don't see this as such...

Comparing with a Pelikan 1000 - bearing the same nib size - barrel diameter is also 14.5mm and its minimum section grip diameter is only 11.5mm

Francis - I, as a gentleman of taste, love the color, love the technical component, and love the size of the nib. Thank you for sharing the photos of a true work of art. Seeing it made me happy inside.

Francis - I am in the love it camp. It seems to have an organic look - a modern spin on the classic tortoise. Congratulations on another beauty

I bet Conid will offer these in plain black Delrin for those who prefer a more subdued pen.

The lines in this acrylic look more like a drawing or painting than a pattern. Very nice!

That is amazing. I think we should go over these creations with some cognac!

you can never get it wrong, because you can never get it done!

It is visually stunning. I couldn't bring myself to write with it though. I think Conid should offer a couple to your royal family as signature pens as a promotional idea. It is that attractive.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
